TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $39,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Schill - Dead late closer will hope that Quite a Stormkat and Mini Do duel early; that'll make her job that much easier.
Quite a Stormkat - Lone speed is a dangerous bet, let's see if she can shake free early; liked her last win very much.
Long Shot - No Ka Oi
Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Flashover - Consistent sort appears to be rounding back into form; the Sunshine Millions may have affected her.
Warren's Appeal - Been away 2-months, but is more than capable in this spot; like the turn back in distance.
Long Shot - June My Love
Race 3 - 1 mile, Purse $21,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds
Morton Owen - Sliding down the claiming ladder for the white hot Mike Mitchell; like that Bejarano remains loyal.
Personality Kid - Ran well in last first time with blinkers on; can have a say with logical improvement.
Long Shot - Cold Ruler
Race 4 - 1 mile, Purse $16,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up
Six Pack Man - Part owned by Jim Rome and Little Red Feather Racing; that alone is worth rooting for him.
Thisishoweroll - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Eric Guillot adds blinkers on.
Long Shot - Mort Robbins
Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
Union Scale - Just missed last time facing a similar group; second race off a 5-month hiatus, the one to beat.
Capi and Max - Outside draw will help his price; Alex Solis is riding like it's 1999, not 2009.
Long Shot - Sacred Mountain
Race 6 - 1 mile, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, 4-year-olds and up
Sangaree - Ran a winning race for this class last time; repeat effort makes him the one to beat again.
Holladay Road - Second time out for Carla Gaines; ran evenly in debut, key for me is Garrett Gomez remains loyal.
Long Shot - Cruz Blanca
Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $33,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Quid Non - Speedball will relish the turf rail out 24 feet; Joe Talamo should send hard and play catch me if you can.
Pat the Cool Cat - Logical chalk, mare is proven to love the hillside turf course; she may have to do all the work.
Long Shot - Tough Apples
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
Razor Cut - Big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano for the money shot; class drop to a condition claimer here.
