TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $14,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
Parko - Ran a real stinker in last; his prior races are all fast enough to crunch these, the one to beat.
Push Send - Been away 3-months, but returns in the lowest class of his career; need not be much to compete.
Long Shot - Massive Attack
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Hannah's Moment - Controlling speed from a cozy parking lot post; Rafael Bejarano nurses her around the oval.
Speedski - Can sit a perfect trip from the rail for Chantal Sutherland; will wait and test Hannah's Moment late.
Long Shot - Keepsake Copy
Race 3 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $33,000, Claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
Kewen - Returns to his favorite turf course; he loves this distance despite only one win, 8-of-10 in the money.
Headache - Dead late closer drops down in class to his comfort zone; offers good long shot value at 8/1 odds.
Long Shot - My City By The Bay
Race 4 - 1 mile, Purse $25,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds
Personality Kid - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; has kept good company.
Morton Owen - Rail skimming ride for Rafael Bejarano; ran evenly in SoCal debut for Mike Mitchell, expect improvement.
Long Shot - Laser Point
Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $25,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Moscow Rising - Just missed last time in this identical race condition; tactical speed with the rail out 24 feet.
If Not for You - Was right behind Moscow Rising two back; her one turf race showed a lot of promise.
Long Shot - Sunny Peace
Race 6 - 7 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Broken Record - Jeff Mullins has used Chantal Sutherland in 6 races, and won 3 of them; watch to tote for clues.
Sarah's Melody - Of the ones with experience, she looks the best; has had her chances without cashing in.
Long Shot - Swingin Storm
Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Air Fair - She's not the fastest, but has the most upside; responded well to Joel Rosario's aggressive finish.
Real Fancy Runner - Speedball will love the turf rail out 24 feet; key is there are others who will duel early.
Long Shot - Waddup G
Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
River Spey - Solid run in debut, Mike Pupye babies tend to improve with racing; need not be much to beat these.
L'Aziza - Good speed effort in last, first ever for a price tag; she'll be harder to handle in this spot.
Long Shot - Miss Cherry
Best Bet - Parko (race 1)
