HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 - 7 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 2-year-olds

One Vote - Controlling speed with the main man Rafael Bejarano; key will be how slow they can go.

Our Man Luke - Like two angles, the turn back in distance and the drop in class from MSW to this.

Long Shot - Doggie Bear

Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $19,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Kielbasa - Logical chalk has been knocking on the door, but can't get in; this is the weakest group yet.

Solo Performance - Consistent sort figures to sit a trip and come grinding late; Bejarano daily double?

Long Shot - Maj. Trouble

Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

It's Partytime - Strong run last time when the favorite; tough to handle if she can improve one step.

There Goes Gee Gee - Failed going long last time facing much tougher; she drops down in class and distance.

Long Shot - Sweetwaterwind

Race 4 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $8,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Ju Ju Baby - Decent SoCal debut for this Florida invader; suspect she'll be much tighter for this try.

Early Anna - Could be the best closer should the race fall apart late; grinding type in bottom class.

Long Shot - Pirate's Charm

Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $38,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Swift Demand - Ran terribly in last, but his race two back points him out; inside posts are good in turf sprints.

Devoted Magic - Broke slow and then had trouble in the lane last time; Hollendorfer turns to Garrett Gomez.

Long Shot - Ginobili

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Sorry Baby - Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry, I expect one of them to win; expect Rosario to take back.

Got Tobe Rio - Speedball could be dueled early by Lu Baton; that would set it up for the other Baffert.

Long Shot - Lu Baton

Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $39,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Nima's Pad - Gained confidence with an easy win in last; third start off a 3-month hiatus could be a good one.

Dadsalittleunusual - Two near misses, now Corey Nakatani takes over; he is a hungry rider again for sure.

Long Shot - Peachy Canyon

Race 8 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds

Justdontcallmejeri - Claimed by Doug O'Neill and spotted nicely to graduate; like the turn back in distance.

Markus D. - Outran his high odds of 50/1 last time; he showed new found early speed for Chantal Sutherland.

Long Shot - Island Run

Best Bet - Justdontcallmejeri (race 8)

Hollywood Sunday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/5/$23.60; Long Shots, 9/2/$16.20; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.60

Hollywood Totals - 572/153/$1,019.40; Long Shots, 291/35/$358.20; Best Bets, 33/16/$59.80
