TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $39,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
Smooth and Savvy - Could see a positive race shape as 3-of-5 horses here race close to the lead; be along in time.
Cat Brulay - Stretching out around 2-turns for the first time; should make for an interesting jockey's race.
Long Shot - Angelonmhyshoulder
Race 2 - 7 furlongs, Purse $9,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Bold Cleo - Like the turn back in distance from 2-turn routes for this elongated sprint; should be finishing fast.
Sportie's Squeeze - Back class filly hurt herself in last with a poor start; distance might be perfect for her.
Long Shot - Zaya
Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $37,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
Cavanal - Even run last time facing a tougher MSW group than this; big rider switch to Bejarano for the money shot.
Taste's Sis - Slowly but surely rounding into form for Gary Mandella; suspect will improve even more today.
Long Shot - Blasterman
Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $36,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Miss Lion Heart - I liked her debut, even more when Navigator airballed out of it; she figures to offer some value.
Fancy Lashes - Tyler Baze had his choice of mounts and ends up on the FTS for Doug O'Neill; that is message enough.
Long Shot - Life by R R
Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $24,000, Starter allowance $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
Ballestero - May have moved too soon in last and got caught on the wire late; solid turf resume to face these.
Victory Joe - Has enough natural speed from the inside post to utilize the advantage of the turf rail out 20 feet.
Long Shot - Solo Performance
Race 6 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $12,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Flew First Class - Sliding down the claiming ladder where she could be the boss; like that Bejarano takes over.
Coconut Telegraph - FTS from the typically hot Mike Mitchell barn; need not be much to cash a nice paycheck.
Long Shot - No Guessing
Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $31,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds and up
Luhuk's Dancer - Should benefit from a likely speed duel on the front end; rai skimming ride and late energy.
Within Reason - Bullet fast, he may have company nipping at his heels; class drop can only help his chances.
Long Shot - Euroglide
Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles, $150,000 Bayakoa Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Model - Cruise control win last time should put her in perfect stead for this; having a very productive fall.
Wake Up Maggie - Chased Model's shadow in the Spinster; mare is better than that and could rebound nicely here.
Long Shot - Lady Digby
Race 9 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, 2-year-olds
Urban Cat - Closed fast in last after a tardy beginning; Victor Espinoza figures to put him into the race sooner.
El Tajin - Much improved effort in last despite some trouble early; speed to outrun a very slow group.
Long Shot - Quiet Lightning
Best Bet - Flew First Class (race 6)
Hollywood Saturday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/5/$31.00; Long Shots, 7/1/$8.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
