HORSE RACING
TODAY AT DEL MAR
By Richard Eng
Post Time 4 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile, Purse $21,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Red Neck Gal - Claimed by the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer; drops her into a spot where she holds a solid class edge.
Bold Cleo - Speedy sort figures to be sent early by Richard Migliore; Polytrack has been fair, so far, the first two days.
Long Shot - Gold Datnoid
Race 2 - 5 furlongs (turf), Purse $59,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Siena Gold - I have the utmost respect for Adam Kitchingman, especially in sprints; tactical speed, Gomez, to sit a trip.
Masterful Miss - Another with tactical speed in the hands of Rafael Bejarano; he'll find a spot, sit, and grind it out late.
Long Shot - Lochinvar's Gold
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Airplane Attendant - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Doug O'Neill adds blinkers on.
Heaven Tonight - Ran a respectable race, for this low class, last time out; repeat race actually puts her in the hunt.
Long Shot - Miss Lydia
Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Freebiehadthemoves - Daylight win was interesting to see; the main question is can she repeat or will she bounce badly.
Lauren C - She lost all chance at the start last time out; she offers value at 6/1 because this group may actually be easier.
Long Shot - Jinx
Race 5 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $44,000, Maiden claiming $100,000, 2-year-olds
Let'spickupthepace - Talk about class relief, exits the Hollywood Juvenile for the maiden claimer; should be mighty salty.
Big Revolution - Peter Miller barn is stationed at nearby San Luis Rey Downs; he points a lot of stock for this meeting.
Long Shot - My Man Sumo
Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $63,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds
Robscarvic - Gets big class relief from two grade 3 stakes for this simple optional claimer; should fire his best shot.
Let Us Prey - Showed quality in England with decent group 2 outings; was meant for the Oceanside, but did not draw in.
Long Shot - Dr Zaentz
Race 7 - 5 1/2 furlongs, $125,000 CTBA, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Ten Churros - Was flattered by Bob Baffert's private purchase; also she crushed Goodday who won easily here on Thursday.
Atka - Has been chasing the best in the open division, Emmy Darling and Glitter City; drops in class to face state-breds.
Long Shot - Wendoffer
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $10,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Sararah, Jr. - Good a race as any to reach for a live long shot; her comeback race at Pleasanton could set her up for this.
Miss Lola La Dare - If you're still live in the pick 4 or pick 6, I hope you spread; tepid chalk has Gomez in an awful race.
Long Shot - Hotitude
Best Bet - Ten Churros (race 7)
