HORSE RACING
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time noon
Race 1 - 1 1/16 miles, Purse $70,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up
Hurry Up Austin - Making his third start off a 4-month sabbatical; note his stretch out tries have been in graded stakes.
Top Emblem - Ran out of gas late trying to go 9-furlongs; Ron Sticka takes the blinkers off, could provide a minor upset.
Long Shot - Saint Spot
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
Self Insured - Been away 2-months, but like the turn back in distance from route to sprint; figures to be flying fast late.
Stomp Dance - Won a key maiden claiming race two back to signal his quality; ran fast enough last time for a minor upset.
Long Shot - Waive Liability
Race 3 - 6 furlongs, $100,000 Hollywood Juvenile Championship, 2-year-olds
Fassnacht - Dead late closer should be flattered by the race shape; expect dueling speedballs with closers coming over the top.
Nochangenweather - Maiden facing winners, but note Eric Guillot brings the colt back in 7-days; automatic toss for most players.
Long Shot - Jack Flash
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $75,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds and up
Tycoon Doby - Ran like a horse who needed his last race, his first off an 11-month hiatus; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.
Mind the Minister - Logical favorite from the Jeff Mullins barn; second start off a 2-month hiatus, should be much sharper.
Long Shot - Tent
Race 5 - 1 1/8th miles, $300,000 Vanity Handicap, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Zenyatta - She could be the best horse running on Breeders' Cup day at Santa Anita; imagine if she ran in the Classic instead.
Silver Z - She is a sprinter stretching out in a race with no pace; crazier things have happened than stealing the verdict.
Long Shot - Sealy Hill
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $62,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
Ribald - Start of a nearly $1.2 million pick 6 carryover; rough trip in last, can rebound at a square price for Tyler Baze.
Hannahs Classy Boy - FTS from the clever Brian Koriner barn; after a rough SA meet, the barn has bounced back in Inglewood.
Long Shot - One Chin Again
Race 7 - 1 mile (turf), $750,000 Cash Call Mile Invitational, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Ventura - Her only poor U.S. race was a dull try at Churchill; Garrett Gomez made the winning difference in the Just A Game.
Lady of Venice - There is not much to separate her from Ventura; Alan Garcia is Kiaran McLaughlin go to rider in New York.
Long Shot - Passified
Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $66,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Barbara's Love - She looked like a completely different filly in first race off the claim by Ted West; repeat race wins it.
Chosen Royalty - Had a very rough trip last time that definitely cost her the victory; she offers a lot of value at 5/1 odds.
Long Shot - Magical Victory
Race 9 - 1 1/4 miles (turf), $750,000 American Oaks, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Pure Clan - Talk about a wide open race; classy filly is much better on grass, who knows where her ceiling will end up being.
Carribean Sunset - Exiting two group 1 stakes in Europe is enough to convince me of her class; she is dropping a few pounds.
Long Shot - Satan's Circus
Race 10 - 7 furlongs, $300,000 Triple Bend Handicap, 3-year-olds and up
Street Boss - Bruce Headley shows us again that patience is a virtue; he gave this colt time to develop into grade 1 caliber.
Elite Squadron - Interesting Midwest shipper is proven to be hard as nails; he faced some of these in the Commonwealth
Long Shot - Desert Code
Race 11 - 1 1/16th miles (turf), Purse $65,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Alley Theater - John Glenney filly ran well in her SoCal debut; will get a similar trip and save all the ground under Solis.
Surprises Welcomed - She cost a pretty penny, but hasn't graduated; beaten chalk may never earn back her $3-million price tag.
Long Shot - Wicked Delight
Best Bet - Zenyatta (race 5)
Hollywood Friday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/2/$18.60; Long Shots, 9/1/$6.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
