HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Glory N Thehighest - Among those with experience, her resume looks best; ran a winning race for this low class in last.

Stitchit - Jack Van Berg maiden sight unseen for 7 months; she has finished second thrice, better than most in here.

Long Shot - Seacoast

Race 2 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up

Taint That a Cat - In a race this ugly, a horse like this looks like a standout; appears well suited for an elongated sprint.

Babu - Speedy sort makes a big come down in class; the Mig is good at nursing the early speed, see how far he can go.

Long Shot - The Unclean Spirit

Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $13,000, Claiming $8,000, 4-year-olds and up

Outside Looking In - He stretches back out around 2-turns and rallying into faster elongated sprints; will show more energy.

Spriggzee - The longer price of an uncoupled Jeff Mullins entry; did you see the result of Wednesday's first race, look it up.

Long Shot - T J's Dixie

Race 4 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Moves Like a Cat - Logical chalk has some early speed which could work on a cool Friday night; subtle class drop will help.

Stag On the Run - He is getting pretty long in the tooth, but he has some decent races on his resume; chance to rebound here.

Long Shot - Stern Wheeler

Race 5 - 7 furlongs, Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Swift Demand - Got a test drive last time off a 13-month sabbatical; key for me is John Sadler hires Garrett Gomez for this.

Lit'sgoodlookngray - Logical chalk has run fast lately, but not fast enough to win; has not won since claimed by Jack Carava.

Long Shot - Swiss Ski

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Isabella's Crown - Ran miserably last time in her turf debut; her races before that are average, but useful in this class drop.

Salah's Jewels - Tepid chalk in a wide open, ugly affair; she hasn't started in 10-months and is dropping from MSW for this.

Long Shot - Chaw Fire

Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $31,000, Claiming $32,000, 4-year-olds and up

Quest Venture - Been away 6-months, but is the quickest sprinter in the field; Joe Talamo will play catch me if you can.

Congo King - Logical chalk off a nice win in a turf sprint last time; he must overcome a speed bias with the rail out 20 feet.

Long Shot - Bodes Galaxy

Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Sunshine In - Failed miserably last time after a solid debut facing much tougher; if he rebounds to that, he can upset here.

Lotacat - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; figures to be a short price in a lousy field.

Long Shot - Maltese Tiger

Best Bet - Moves Like a Cat (race 4)

Hollywood Thursday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 14/3/$37.80; Long Shots, 8/1/$7.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Totals - 931/214/$1,472.60; Long Shots, 473/45/$451.80; Best Bets, 55/22/$91.40
