TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 1:20 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Almacita - Dead late closer draws the dreaded rail; won't hurt her because Campos was going to take back anyway.

Applaud Dubai - Favorite draws the parking lot post; despite a win last time for $25k, Jeff Mullins drops her to $16k.

Long Shot - Cupid Kitty

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Artistryandrhythm - At such a low class level, usually the less starts the better; she ran evenly in debut, can improve.

Hint of Lavender - Beaten favorite from Phoenix is not facing a tougher group in here; can track the speed from the wide out.

Long Shot - Alotta Wild

Race 3 - 1 mile (turf), Purse $53,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Tamerin - Mike Mitchell seldom wins with FTS, so this filly must be talented; note he puts her on turf first time facing winners.

Miss Singhsix - Alex Solis will miss the Bruce Headley horses, but Paddy Gallagher remains loyal; Irish invader will be tough.

Long Shot - Ginger Pop

Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $21,000, Claiming $16,000, 4-year-olds and up

Tizmet - Forgiving handicappers will draw a line thru the last miserable grass race; his dirt race two back can upset.

Scrummage - Speedball figures to clear the field; he has a lot of back class to rely upon, plays catch me if you can.

Long Shot - Omg

Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

Tizsong - Speedball tactics could be effective in a mundance MSW field; much improved after two career starts at Del Mar.

Classic Attire - Favorite is getting long in the tooth, but he's not facing much today; Joe Talamo sits in arrears for one run.

Long Shot - Dollar Mountain

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up

Power Shift - Claimed by Jeff Mullins, which is all you need to hear; his race two back is fast enough to crush these.

Forest Danz - Sliding down the claiming ladder despite running competitive races; tactical speed to sit a decent trip.

Long Shot - Refinery

Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

Medzendeekron - Dead late closer gets class relief in this turf sprint; the turn back in distance will show in his finish.

Towzee - Ground saving trip inside for Alex Solis; he ran very well over the Hollywood turf in his U.S. debut.

Long Shot - Faulkwood Shores

Race 8 - 7 furlongs, $100,000 Railbird, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Lethal Heat - She is unbeaten in three starts, yet Gerry Olguin gives up the mount to Bejarano; facile on turf or synthetic.

Tasha's Miracle - Ran awful over Polytrack at Keeneland, but she's a lot better than that; won her MSW at Hollywood.

Long Shot - Sweet Hope

Race 9 - 6 furlongs, Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Distant Victory - Carla Gaines has won with FTS a lot more the last couple years; pedigree, by Distant View, to win early.

Bea's Cee - Logical chalk because of multiple bullet workouts; the advantage you'll have is being able to see the odds.

Long Shot - Red Tomatoes

Best Bet - Power Shift (race 6)

Hollywood Saturday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/6/$42.20; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$6.20
