Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $17,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up
King Palm - Sliding down the claiming ladder to this new career low; the Maloof brothers have given up on this 7-YO.
Chadlington - Nondescript opener to a key card with a pick 6 carryover of $555k; today's the day to shoot for the moon.
Long Shot - Courtly Jazz
Race 2 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Call Aly - Dropped into a claimer after two good efforts in a row; suspect Walther Solis expects no claim tags in here.
Ravin Maniac - Wesley Ward usually dominated the baby drag races at Santa Anita, but not this year; expect a lot of support.
Long Shot - I Catherine
Race 3 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Atka - You'll have a big edge over me, you'll see the tote board action on the many FTS; a Mike Harrington Swiss Yodeler.
Glitter City - Morning line favorite from the Jeff Mullins barn; remember that the outside posts are a hindrance here.
Long Shot - Listisimo
Race 4 - 1 1/8th miles, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
Matty's G Force - Ran a winning race last time for this class; Mike Mitchell barn was winless the first week of the meet.
Cambridge Blue - Bobby Frankel babies typically improve with experience; the Mig's business has picked up nearing Derby time.
Long Shot - Dakota Phone
Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Love Happens - Aggressive move by Mike Mitchell to bump her up to $80k off a loss; suspect he knows a lot more than we do.
Mini Do - Tepid chalk in another wide open race; she finally broke her MSW and sometimes that's all it takes to get them going.
Long Shot - Wickednwackyingrid
Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Ann's Plan - Edge to Jeff Mullins in a real dart throw of a race; the rail can be difficult, but I expect Baze to take back.
Perfect Rhyme - Art Sherman gets a free shot here off a 1-year sabbatical; mare has a ton of back class and lots of speed.
Long Shot - Angel Eyed
Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $53,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds
Madeo - He broke his MSW for John Shirreffs like he's meant to be a very good one; stretches out around 2-turns today.
Coast Guard - Logical chalk ran a dead game third in the Santa Anita Derby; horses with less credentials are in Louisville.
Long Shot - Winsome Charm
Race 8 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $44,000, Claiming $62,500, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Snow Delicious - Did not run badly in her turf debut last time; Doug O'Neill switches to one of his main men, Michael Baze.
Rapid Goose - Ran very well in grass debut off the claim by John Sadler; stretches out around 2-turns, could be closing late.
Long Shot - Amybelle
Best Bet - Snow Delicious (race 8)
