TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time noon

Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, 4-year-olds and up

Orientate Slew - Lost all chance last time on the first turn when carried to the outside fence; colt has shown ability.

Game A. P. - Flores riding for Nakatani who broke his collarbone the other morning; barn switch from Shirreffs to Hendricks.

Long Shot - British Medium

Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $12,500, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up

Political High - Sharp win off the claim by Hollendorfer; has plenty of back class where a repeat performance is doable.

Dark Past - Speedy sort keeps running well but stays in the same class; he must have his issues as he's conservatively placed.

Long Shot - Common Trust

Race 3 - 1 1/4 miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $55,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up

Soupy - Trouble trip last time was too much to overcome; gets class relief, a new pilot in Tyler Baze, will save ground.

Stylin Cat - Logical chalk as he's run four good races since claimed by Jeff Mullins; tactical speed to lead or follow.

Long Shot - Westerly Magic

Race 4 - 1 mile, Purse $28,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Homemade Lovin' - Private purchase lands in the Baffert barn; filly has found a soft condition to make her SoCal debut.

Let's Eat Out - Stretching out around 2-turns for the first time; faced tougher in last, gets class relief in here.

Long Shot - Almacita

Race 5 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $52,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up

Congo King - Tough trip from post 11 in a turf sprint at Hollywood Park; with luck should see much better sailing today.

In the Woods - Speedball will be helped by the turf rail out 15 feet; Frankel barn has sent out mostly live runners.

Long Shot - Dakota Padre

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Dish the Dirt - Logical chalk outran her high odds in debut when second; Gomez for the injured Nakatani, expect patience.

Lucky Mama - Baffert speedball has faltered in the deep stretch in both her races; she may forget to stop this afternoon.

Long Shot - Clever Cochet

Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $24,000, Claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up

Cousins Lew - Don't mind the parking lot post in this elongated sprint; Koriner drops him in class into a winable spot.

Trail Mix - Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; has won two in a row, but is double jumped in class so he's no cinch.

Long Shot - Lord Albion

Race 8 - 6 furlongs, $150,000 Palos Verdes Handicap, 4-year-olds and up

In Summation - He is a natural 6-furlong stakes sprinter who loves the synthetic surface; tactical speed to sit a trip.

Surf Cat - This is not his best distance, probably 7-furlongs would be his cup of tea; figures to settle and make one run.

Long Shot - Soul City Slew

Race 9 - 6 furlongs, Purse $48,000, Claiming $62,500, 4-year-olds

River Echo - Proved his synthetic surface prowess in the last two starts; should be more effective with the shorter distance.

Blackfoot Trail - Dead late closer gets class relief to face an easier group;; will need some pace up front to do his stuff.

Long Shot - Tiztime

Race 10 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $22,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds

Nitro Active - Got a good education in debut for Koriner; switch to main man Gryder and big class drop from MSW to claiming.

Warren's Blvd. - Disappointed as a beaten favorite last time; he offers a lot of value at 6/1 with white hot Flores up.

Long Shot - Raingear

Best Bet - Nitro Active (race 10)

Santa Anita Sunday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 19/3/$22.20; Long Shots, 9/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
