TODAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 mile, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Morgan Lane - This is the slowest group she's ever faced, could be now or never; flattered by Zenyatta and Carmel Coffee.
Elusive Melody - Sprinter stretching out could be a nuisance early, middle and late; like the big rider switch to Flores.
Long Shot - Minimite
Race 2 - 1 1/4 miles, Purse $55,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 4-year-olds and up
Inclusive - Will save all the ground inside under Valdivia; was DQ'd in a rough trip last time, capable of improving.
Gregorian Bay - Ran sharp last time for Sadler, now switching to the ice cold Palma barn; Gomez stays loyal, leap of faith.
Long Shot - Tour Da Bronx
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Flying Home - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much to boss these around.
Candeye Lou - Did a classic pop and stop in career debut facing much better; class drop and rail, plays catch me if you can.
Long Shot - Wild Popper
Race 4 - 1 mile, Purse $26,000, Claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds
Roosevelt - Hard to believe Art Sherman is 0-for-15 this meet; drop down adding blinkers on, expect a much stronger effort.
Dennybuck - Minor upset last time for the Spawr-Mig connection; makes a class rise, but most of these aren't worth $20k.
Long Shot - Mo's Pocolino
Race 5 - 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 30 feet), Starter handicap $16,000, 4-year-olds and up
Stylin Cat - Speedy sort may be able to dictate the pace from start to finish; aided by the turf rail out 30 feet today.
Semi Lost - Sprint closer will try to apply his strengths around 2-turns; key will be if Garcia can get him to relax early.
Long Shot - Like a Tiger
Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Warren's Sillycat - Has been well bet in most of her starts, favored for the first time tonight; can sit a perfect trip.
Game We Play - Speedball will try to steal this on the front end; was flattered when Martita's Rose won in her next start.
Long Shot - My Maloof Rocker
Race 7 - 1 mile, Purse $57,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds
Pistol Pete Afleet - Got the worst of it last time in a four horse field; Gryder would be better giving him free rein.
Ghetto - Exits a tough heat where Yankee Bravo and Sky Cape both won next time out; faces no such contenders in here.
Long Shot - Sassou
Race 8 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $57,000, Optional claiming $32,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Tiz a Blend - Leap of faith that those she was facing at Del Mar were a lot tougher than today's group; saves all the ground.
Britney Heat - Claimed by Pupye off a good effort and is well spotted to repeat; she does not need the lead to succeed.
Long Shot - Chelcee's Hope
Race 9 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Dine At Nine - Speedball must get an uncontested lead to succeed; she's pretty quick and may intimidate the slowpokes.
Soaring Lauren - Tepid chalk in a real dart throw race; like Bejarano who will carve out a patient, well placed trip.
Long Shot - Nicole's Image
Best Bet - Flying Home (race 3)
Santa Anita Thursday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 14/3/$26.20; Long Shots, 8/2/$19.00; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
