TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1:20 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Tizfiz - If she repeats her debut effort, the rest will be running for place; was nipped by the very talented Theverythoughtof U.
Hennessy Rose - Solid improvement from debut to start number two; she was well bet in both starts meaning the barn must love her.
Long Shot - Katori
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $14,000, 4-year-olds and up
Captain Sacto - Got up in the final stride last time in a minor upset; facing a field no tougher than last, the one to beat.
Dixie's Ruler - Appeared overmatched in last, Hines smartly is dropping him down in class; chance to win on his best effort.
Long Shot - Vitali
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Proud Garrison - Taking the bigger class drop among the contenders, from MSW to claiming; Baze is fighting for the riding title.
Unlimited Gold - She has turned in a couple decent efforts for this low class level; won't take much to graduate from these.
Long Shot - Ongoing
Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds
Gary John - You don't get claimed twice in a row unless you look good to other trainers; he is clearly the one to beat.
Scoonerwharfbardog - Mullins barn has gone from half asleep to wide awake all night; aggressiev triple jump in class here.
Long Shot - Jamaicanmelate
Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Easy Obsession - Was overwhelmed last time in the Frans Valentine; Hines puts her in a realistic spot, chance to rebound.
Star Voyager - Speedball could prove troublesome if allowed soft early fractions; she'll be aided by the turf rail out 10 feet.
Long Shot - Tiz Next
Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $24,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Promise of Spring - She's done better at 1-turn that 2-turn races, still I like her here; softer pace, she'll sit a nice trip.
Honored Gold - She set a very fast pace last time before succumbing late; if Baze can catch any sort of break, she can win.
Long Shot - Ginny Winner
Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $51,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds and up
Cigar Pal - Just missed in a monster return effort last time; he figures to improve as he'll be a lot tighter in this start.
Only One Way - Upset Cigar Pal last time and will try to prove it's no fluke; Sadler picking up where Mullins got him going.
Long Shot - Queen's Image
Race 8 - 6 furlongs, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
More Than a Lady - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to claiming; his best career start was her debut on dirt.
Golden Venture - Any horse coming out of the Ellis barn these days has a big chance, no matter what they look like.
Long Shot - Proud Magic
Best Bet - Tizfiz (race 1)
Hollywood Wednesday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 13/5/$23.60; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.80
