HORSE RACING
November 8, 2007 - 10:00 pm
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Hotitude - She keeps outrunning my expectations for her; dead late closer is always at the mercy of the early pace.
Sum Mistake - Knapp wins with a lot of back class droppers in spots like this; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.
Long Shot - Delphina
Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $44,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Tates Queen - Gomez exits another to ride for Harty; filly is bred to be any kind and appears to be moving forward.
Sunday Geisha - Logical chalk getting sincere class relief exiting two Grade 1 stakes for this; sure to be way overbet.
Long Shot - Sweet August Moon
Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $10,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Carrie's A Jewel - Red flag drop from the West barn; impossible to ignore the gigantic class edge she holds in here.
Ten Tenors - Her win two back at Fairplex is fast enough to upset these; makes his debut over the Cushion track.
Long Shot - Kentucky Waltz
Race 4 - 7 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
You Lift Me Up - This is a betting stable and this filly should be ready to fire; parking lot post OK in a slow field.
Wild Miss R N - Like two changes taking place, Hollendorfer training and Baze riding; found her best stride too late.
Long Shot - Forgiveandforget
Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $48,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
Supposition - Exits two Grade 1 races for this very winable spot; Frankel loves races where he's shooting fish in a barrel.
Nootka Island - Tried hard but didn't get much racing luck down the hill; Mitchell filly is not outclassed by these.
Long Shot - G. I. Betty
Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
Partywithlarryz - Good try last time considering a bit of trouble; tactical speed to maintain good inside position.
Bertie Boy - Got a test drive in last off an 8-month hiatus; Smith needs to ride hard every time in a crowded jock's room.
Long Shot - Dee's Fling
Race 7 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $50,000, Optional claiming 462,500, 3-year-olds and up
Redhotandrolling - May not get much respect winning at Fairplex, but this guy has some serious gas; the one to catch.
Kapalua Bay - Suspect Valdivia can picture a perfect trip stalking the Mullins speed demon; the test will come late.
Long Shot - Haraldo
Race 8 - 7 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
Mystic Geisha - When I see a rider switch to Gomez, his nickname might as well be "the closer"; gets the job done again.
Mangyan Model - The extra furlong tonight should really help her; she's a sluggish filly who finds her best stride late.
Long Shot - Line Dancing
Best Bet - Mystic Geisha (race 8)
Hollywood Wednesday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/3/$19.00; Long Shots, 8/3/$33.60; Best Bet, 1/1/$2.80
Hollywood Totals - 16/4/$19.00; Long Shots, 8/3/$33.60; Best Bets, 1/1/$2.80
