TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
1 Meter Me Gone - Gutsy nose win in last, now moves up a couple classes; facing no world beaters in here.
3 Desperate Measures - Big class dropper could wake up under the aggressive P Val; he'll put her into the race.
Long Shot - 2 Takethemoneyandrun
Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
3 Moonstruck Maya - Chance to be lone early speed, the best bet in horse racing; catch her to win.
6 Going for a Spin - Could make this a cold exacta box as a closer chasing the lone speed; be along in time.
Long Shot - 4 All the Love
Race 3 - 4 1/2 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
2 Dolphin Bay - Was well bet in debut and had some trouble at a key moment; rallied in the stretch for third.
9 Molly's All Heart - FTS from Walther Solis is favored; barn is tops in baby races, but the parking lot post will hurt.
Long Shot - 5 Gogi
Race 4 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Party Ruler - For Garrett Gomez to ride in a maiden claiming race, it better be a good reason; should be overbet.
4 Nisus - His race two back is fast enough to upset these; watch the tote board for clues.
Long Shot - 8 Free From My Ex
Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 Vikkilee - Dead-game win last time in a turf sprint over this course; Rafael Bejarano will sit a trip and come late.
3 Sleep Tight - Speedball will like the turf rail out 15 feet; simple tactics for Martin Garcia, boot and scoot.
Long Shot - 4 Frequent Fame
Race 6 - 7 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
8 Remus - Is ineligible to be claimed, so returns at this low-class level; like the parking lot post in an elongated sprint.
5 Streets of Heaven - Wins and drops in class for Mike Pender; suspect he'll be happy with the purse and lose the horse.
Long Shot - 3 Star Nicholas
Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $55,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
4 Burj Dubai - Suspect will be lone speed as a sprinter stretching out; claimed by Mike Mitchell, expect big improvement.
5 Bogie - First-time gelding as a 4-YO; has never run on synthetics, but has a solid grass resume which may help.
Long Shot - 6 Uh Oh Bango
Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Gutshot Straight - Ran a winning race for this class in last, was second 4 lengths clear of third; can finish with these.
1 Blind Magic - Speedball must decide to duel with Cabo San Lucas or let him go early; will save all the ground inside.
Long Shot - 2 Gifted Student
Best Bet - 3 Moonstruck Maya (race 2)
Hollywood Park Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/4/$36.20; Long Shots, 9/1/$13.20; Best Bet, 1/1/$6.20
Hollywood Park Totals - 207/55/$397.80; Long Shots, 102/18/$172.60; Best Bets, 11/5/$22.60
SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - 7 System Ready (7/2) in race 6 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Can't Refuse ran out at Belmont Park. Stats - 76/47/$366.40
