Horse Racing: Today at Hollywood Park, Dec. 13

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

2 Chief Lion - Has shown good improvement and now is the one to beat; unknown is turf debut, but has run well over synthetics.

1 Incline Village - Kayla Stra has been one of the stories of the meet; riding well with limited chances or live mounts.

Long Shot - 3 The Cleaners

Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

1 Spring Breeze - Is spotted at the price Doug O’Neill claimed her at; going for the purse though she may get claimed away.

3 Madoffwiththemoney - Claimed off a putrid race by Danny Velazquez; her prior races are all a lot better, rebounds?

Long Shot - 5 Addendum

Race 3 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $42,000, Claiming $50,000, 3-year-olds

5 Summer Exclusive - Peter Miller is still in the hunt for the trainer title; he needs to win with the rest of his starters.

7 Great Friends Rule - Claimed by Robertino Diodoro off a sharp win; like that Joe Talamo remains loyal to the cause.

Long Shot - 4 Old Man Lake

Race 4 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, 2-year-olds

3 Wynhurst - Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; like that stable rider Martin Garcia ends up on this one.

5 Midnight Hawk - Note the sports owners, Mike Tice and Joel Quenneville; coaches with NFL and NHL experience.

Long Shot - 6 Snuggley Bear

Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $45,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds

5 Nooten - If you want value here’s your boy; outran his 15/1 odds in last for a strong second, should relish more ground.

2 Public Policy - Another sprinter stretching out; I suspect this guy may show more early speed with Mike Smith aboard.

Long Shot - 8 Hye I’m Jack

Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $18,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

11 Visions of Candy - Loses her jockey Joe Talamo to the chalk; Brice Blanc is fine and you’ll get a lot higher odds with him.

1 Amanda - Sure to get overbet, but offers little confidence to me; has had 5 chances already at this class, now stretching out.

Long Shot - 3 Sheza Eyeopener

Race 7 - 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $52,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

6 Olympic Blue - With the rail out 10 feet, speedball tactics could work; Corey Nakatani has a quick decision to make.

2 Power Foot - Richard Mandella has had a very quiet Hollywood; he’s working on a duck albeit with only 9 starters this meet.

Long Shot - 7 Horizontalspeakin

Race 8 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up

4 Sandys Diamond - Dropped to the bottom by Doug O’Neill off a second versus better; may be culling the barn before Arcadia.

16 Bluegrass Reward - Do not mind a parking lot post in a 1-turn elongated sprint; first start in new barn of Javier Sierra.

Long Shot - 5 Whipstock

Best Bet - 5 Summer Exclusive (race 3)

Hollywood Park Thursay - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/3/$27.60; Long Shots, 7/3/$28.40; Best Bet, 0/0/$0

Hollywood Park Totals - 347/92/$571.80; Long Shots, 167/30/$285.20; Best Bets, 19/7/$35.20

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY - #2 Lemon Hero (4/1) in race 8 at the Fair Grounds. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Thursday, Scotus was scratched at Aqueduct. Stats - 192/129/$1,040.10; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
