In Brief
Roger Federer withdrew on Sunday from the Dubai Championships because of a lung infection.
Organizers said that the top-ranked Swiss star picked up the infection last week and will miss the $2 million event for the second straight year.
A four-time winner in Dubai, Federer will rest for two weeks and is expected to return at Indian Wells, Calif. Andy Roddick, the 2008 champion, withdrew from the tournament Saturday.
The event still has defending champion Novak Djokovic, Australian Open runner-up Andy Murray, Nikolay Davydenko, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and Marin Cilic, all ranked in the top 10.
Also: Sam Querrey rallied in the second tiebreaker and took advantage of a faltering John Isner in the third set, to win the Morgan Keegan Championships 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-3.
Isner overpowered his doubles partner and future Davis Cup teammate in the first set, but Querrey rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second-set tiebreaker, then took the third set for his third career title.
It was the tallest finals matchup in ATP history -- Isner is 6 feet 9 inches, and Querrey is 6-6.

Oregon wideout booted after Facebook comment
Oregon football coach Chip Kelly said wide receiver Jamere Holland has been dismissed from the team, hinting that the decision came after Holland posted an expletive-filled statement on Facebook.
Kelly wouldn't specify which team rules were violated. But when The Oregonian newspaper asked if Holland's Facebook posting was the issue, the coach said the answer wouldn't be difficult to figure out.
The dismissal follows a weekend citation of Kristian Kiko Alonso, a 19-year-old linebacker who is being investigated for possibly driving under the influence of intoxicants. Alonso is the fourth Oregon player to get into legal trouble in less than a month.
Holland mistakenly concluded that Alonso had been kicked off the team and blasted the move in his posting.
Also: Kevin VanDam won $500,000 for his third Bassmaster Classic title, beating Jeff Kriet by five pounds Sunday in Alabama.
