Woods' ex-swing coach
Haney to release book

Hank Haney has written a book about the six years he spent as Tiger Woods' swing coach, a volatile time in which Woods went from winning nearly half of his tournaments to a scandal that derailed his pursuit of golf history.

Without giving away any details until "The Big Miss" goes on sale in the spring, Haney said he believes the book will be hard to put down.

"I get asked all the time about Tiger, what it was like to work with him," Haney said in a telephone interview. "I felt like I had a front-row seat to golf history. It just kind of chronicles a little bit of what I went through, what I dealt with, how I coached and the observations I made.

"I think there's a lot of things that people are going to find interesting."

Haney began working with Woods at the Bay Hill Invitational in 2004. They parted a month after the 2010 Masters, where Woods made his return to golf after being exposed for multiple extramarital affairs that shattered his image and led to divorce.

Haney was asked whether he thought Woods will like it.

"If he reads it, I don't think it will be a book that bothers him. It's hard to say," Haney said. "I think anybody who reads it will think it's interesting, very fair and honest, and that's what I wanted to do. I was on that job for six years. There were 110 days a year I was with him. I stayed at his house for close to 30 days a year. You make a lot of observations."

The book is scheduled to be published March 27 -- one week before the Masters -- and issued simultaneously in print and digital formats in the United States and Canada.

Also: Louis Oosthuizen holed a 35-foot birdie putt on No. 17 to top fellow South African Tjaart van der Walt and retain his title at the Africa Open in East London, South Africa.

The former British Open champion shot 6-under 67 for a 27-under 265 total, beating Van der Walt (69) by two shots in the season-opening European PGA Tour event.

Jordan's oldest son
leaves Central Florida

Jeff Jordan, the oldest son of Michael Jordan, is leaving the Central Florida basketball team for what he says are "personal reasons." The school announced the decision Saturday night but did not provide further details.

The senior guard didn't travel with the team for its 81-63 win at East Carolina on Saturday. Jordan's younger brother and Knights guard Marcus Jordan, a junior, remains with the team.

Jeff Jordan walked on at Illinois and played three seasons before transferring to UCF after the 2009-10 season. He was playing his first season with the Knights after sitting out a season because of NCAA transfer rules.

He appeared in 13 games this season, averaging 2.7 points and 1.8 assists.

Also: Manchester United held off 10-man Manchester City in the second half, ousting the defending champions from the FA Cup with a 3-2 victory in which Paul Scholes surprisingly came out of retirement for United.

The third-round victory allowed United to exact a measure of revenge on City for a 6-1 rout in the Premier League this season and for a loss to its crosstown rival in last season's FA Cup semifinals.

Wayne Rooney headed in two goals and Danny Welbeck struck on a volley in the first half. City set up a tense finish with goals by Aleksandar Kolarov and Sergio Aguero. City's Vincent Kompany was ejected on a foul in the 12th minute.

Milos Raonic beat top-seeded Janko Tipsarevic 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) in the Chennai Open final in Chennai, India. The fourth-seeded Raonic hit 35 aces in a marathon match that lasted 3 hours, 16 minutes and featured no breaks of serve.
