Pacers' Hansbrough out with shin injury
Tyler Hansbrough could miss up to two months with a right shin injury, but the Indiana Pacers believe their first-round draft pick will be healthy enough for the start of the season.
The Pacers did not provide details of the injury Friday other than to say the 6-foot-9-inch forward is expected to miss six to eight weeks. The NBA season begins Oct. 27.
Indiana said Hansbrough hurt the shin last season, his final year at North Carolina.
Also: Forward Hakim Warrick agreed to a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The former Syracuse star played the last four seasons with Memphis, averaging 11.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in 82 games last season.
The Denver Nuggets acquired Malik Allen from Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Walter Sharpe and Sonny Weems.
Allen played in 49 games for Milwaukee last season, averaging 3.2 points.

Tennessee amateur leads U.S. Senior Open
Tennessee amateur Tim Jackson took a one-stroke lead over Joey Sindelar at the U.S. Senior Open in Carmel, Ind.
Jackson, a 50-year-old real estate developer, shot a 5-under 67 at Crooked Stick to take the lead at 11-under 133 -- matching the lowest 36-hole total in event history.
Sindelar was a stroke behind. He started on the back nine and followed his course-record 66 with a 68.
Also: Catriona Matthew of Scotland hit a hole-in-one in a 5-under 67 Friday to share the second-round lead with Giulia Sergas of Italy at the Women's British Open at Lytham St. Annes, England.
Sergas also shot 67 after making five birdies five on the back nine. Both players totaled 3-under 141.
Graeme Storm shot another 4-under 68 to share the lead after the second round of the Moravia Silesia Open in Celadna, Czech Republic.
Storm birdied four of his first seven holes and was tied with fellow Englishman Steve Webster at 8-under 136.

Stewart awarded pole for Sunday's Cup race
Tony Stewart won at Pocono Raceway this season from the rear of the field. He gets to try it this time from the pole.
Rain washed out Sprint Cup qualifying in Long Pond, Pa., putting Stewart on the pole and giving the points leader a shot at sweeping the races on the triangle track from worst and first.
Stewart holds a 192-point lead in the points standings over last week's winner Jimmie Johnson, who will start second Sunday.
Officials from Speedway Motorsports Inc. and Lowe's insist they still are talking in the wake of a report that the home improvement chain is ending its sponsorship of SMI's flagship track.
The Sports Business Journal reported Lowe's will not renew its 11-year sponsorship of the 1.5-mile oval, formerly known as Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Drainage problems wiped out qualifying for today's IndyCar race in Sparta, Ky.

Centennial's Vozzola commits to San Diego
Centennial High School senior-to-be boys basketball player Ben Vozzola gave an oral commitment Thursday to the University of San Diego.
Vozzola, a 6-foot-5-inch combo guard, picked the Toreros over scholarship offers from Fresno State, Santa Clara, Arizona State, Washington State, Colorado State, Utah, UNR, Northern Arizona and Portland.
"The (USD) coaching staff was great and I could make an impact as a freshman," Vozzola said. "They don't want me to change my game."
Also: Boxer Arturo Gatti's body was exhumed to allow the Quebec coroner's office to perform a new autopsy at his family's request.
Brazilian police had said Gatti's death was a suicide.
Police now say Gatti hanged himself with a handbag strap from a staircase column more than 7 feet off the ground.
Also: Nine-time U.S. figure skating champion Michelle Kwan announced she will not return to competitive skating in hopes of making the Vancouver Olympics.
Instead, Kwan will begin classes for a master's degree in international affairs at Tufts University.
Venus Williams defeated Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-2 at the Bank of the West Classic.
Australia's Samantha Stosur, winner of 22 WTA doubles titles and no singles titles, stunned Serena Williams.
