Andy Murray warmed up for the Australian Open with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 victory over third-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov earlier today in the Brisbane International final.
For the second consecutive match, Murray had Ivan Lendl watching from courtside. Aiming to break a drought for British men at the majors dating to 1936, Murray hired the eight-time Grand Slam tournament winner as coach earlier this month and the pair met up Saturday in Brisbane.
The 24-year-old Murray has lost the past two Australian Open finals and is 0-3 in major finals.
In the women's final, Kaia Kanepi won her second WTA title by routing Daniela Hantuchova, 6-2, 6-1.
Also: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga shrugged off a slow start and beat Gael Monfils 7-5, 6-3 in an all-French final Saturday at the Qatar Open in Doha, Qatar, giving himself a confidence boost for the upcoming Australian Open.
The sixth-ranked Tsonga, who reached the final when Roger Federer withdrew with an injury, fell behind 3-1 before finding a rhythm against No. 16 Monfils.
Murray beat Australian teenager Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-2 in the men's semis and will play in the men's final against third-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov, who swept second-seeded Gilles Simon of France, 6-3, 6-4.
Canada's Milos Raonic beat second-seeded Nicolas Almagro 6-4, 6-4 to reach the final of the Chennai Open in Chennai, India.
Raonic, the ATP Newcomer of the Year in 2011, will play top-seeded Janko Tipsarevic in the final. Tipsarevic ended Japanese qualifier Go Soeda's run with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Ana Ivanovic's Australian Open preparations hit another obstacle in the Sydney International, with the former No. 1 and 2008 French Open champion losing 7-6 (5), 6-2 to Lucie Safarova in a first-round match at Sydney, Australia.

American Clint Dempsey scored the first hat trick of his career, Brad Guzan saved a penalty, and Landon Donovan had an assist on a successful day for Americans in the third round of the FA Cup in England.
Dempsey made it 12 goals for the season by scoring in the eighth and 61st minutes, then converting a penalty kick in the 81st of Fulham's 4-0 win over Charlton, which is atop the third tier in English soccer.
Brad Guzan, Aston Villa's fill-in at goalkeeper in the absence of injured Shay Given, saved a stoppage-time penalty from Scott McGleish to help the Premier League team beat the host Bristol Rovers, 3-1,.
Donovan assisted Johnny Heitinga's fifth-minute goal with a corner for Everton in its 2-0 win over Tamworth. Donovan was playing his second game in his loan to the Liverpool club.
Also: Police in Monterrey, Mexico, arrested suspended first-division soccer goalie Omar "El Gato" Ortiz for alleged participation in a kidnapping ring. Ortiz is under a suspension after testing positive for steroids in April 2010, when he was playing with the Rayados of Monterrey.
The security spokesman for Nuevo Leon state said Ortiz worked with a gang responsible for at least 20 kidnappings.

Out of Bounds rallied to beat 1-2 favorite Secret Circle by a half-length in the $100,000 Sham Stakes, the first Kentucky Derby prep of the season at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.
Secret Circle, who led briefly into the stretch, lost for the first time in four career starts for trainer Bob Baffert.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, 10-1 shot Out of Bounds ran a mile in 1 minute, 34.56 seconds and paid $22.60, $5.80 and $4.40.
There was another upset in the $150,000 San Pasqual Stakes, with 7-1 shot Uh Oh Bango defeating favorite Tres Borrachos by 1¾ lengths.
The Wranglers piled up six goals in the first two periods, including a four-goal second period, to roll past the Colorado Eagles 7-4 in an ECHL game at Loveland, Colo.
Las Vegas (21-10-4) led 2-0 after first-period goals from Peter MacArthur and Adam Miller. The Wranglers gave up a goal seven minutes into the second, then piled up four goals in less than 2 u03A9 minutes to go up 6-1 midway through the second. MacArthur and Miller both scored during the onslaught, as did Josh Lunden and Adam Huxley.
Miller netted his third goal six minutes into the third period to slow a Colorado rally.
Elisabeth Goergl of Austria ended American Lindsey Vonn's four-race unbeaten streak in speed events by winning a World Cup downhill in Kleinkirchheim, Austria. Julia Mancuso of the United States was second, 0.16 back, and Fabienne Suter of Switzerland was third, followed by Vonn.
Barry J. Sanders' performance at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio felt a bit like father Barry Sanders' NFL career. He could have done more before he left.
The younger Sanders had three carries in the high school all-star event, including a 10-yard touchdown run, to help the West beat the East, 24-12. After the game, the running back announced he would attend Stanford beginning this fall.
