60,000 expected to see Wladimir Klitschko bout

Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev will fight today in Berlin before the largest boxing audience in Germany since Max Schmeling fought in the 1930s.

Klitschko, the IBF and WBO heavyweight champion, was supposed to be fighting David Haye, but Haye pulled out this month with a back injury.

Haye asked to reschedule the fight in July, but Klitschko wanted to keep the date and the 60,000-seat sellout -- the biggest boxing crowd in Germany since Schmeling fought Adolf Heuser before 70,000 in Stuttgart on June 2, 1939.

Klitschko (52-3) weighed in at 240 pounds Friday, and Chagaev (25-0-1) weighed 225.

Also: Jean Pascal (23-1) overpowered Adrian Diaconu (26-1), claiming the WBC light heavyweight title with a unanimous decision in Montreal.

Rockets star Yao calls Cavs rumor 'unknown'

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming has called a possible move to Cleveland an "unknown" amid rumors that the Cavaliers' new Chinese part owners want to sign him.

In an interview with his hometown Shanghai TV station, Yao said he continued to have "much affection" for the Rockets, the team that took him in the 2002 NBA Draft and with whom he has played his six NBA seasons.

A group of Chinese investors signed an agreement last month with the Cavaliers to become minority owners. The move is expected to boost the team's popularity and marketing opportunities in China, where Cleveland star LeBron James is popular.

Cleveland has not publicly expressed interest in Yao, who has one guaranteed year left on his contract with Houston and a player option for the 2010-11 season.

The woman, Crystal Taylor, was arrested at Nowitzki's Dallas home May 6 and is being held at a county jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus, the team's leading scorer and third in the WNBA at 21.0 points a game, will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in her left knee. Augustus was hurt in Wednesday's game at Phoenix.

The Nevada Board of Regents approved a five-year contract for UNR basketball coach David Carter that will pay him an annual base salary of $300,000. He replaced Mark Fox, who resigned in April to become coach at Georgia.

Carter, 42, had been an assistant at UNR since 1999.

F1 will sue group over plans for rival series

Formula One intends to sue the eight teams that announced plans for a rival series next season -- the biggest crisis to engulf the sport since the championship began in 1950.

The governing body accused the Formula One Teams Association of "serious violations of law." The breakaway came after Ferrari, Brawn GP, McLaren, Renault, Toyota, BMW Sauber, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso failed to resolve a dispute over the introduction of a budget cap for next season.

F1 would lose some of its biggest names to the rival series, including reigning world champ Lewis Hamilton, championship leader Jenson Button of Brawn, Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Kimi Raikkonen and rising star Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull.

Also: Team owner Richard Childress said his four-car organization is among those who have been informed that General Motors' support is being scaled back, effective immediately. Rick Hendrick and Tony Stewart said earlier this week that they met with GM officials, who must cut back spending since filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this month.

The Camping World Truck series race at the Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wis., was postponed by rain and rescheduled for today. Brian Ickler will start on the pole.
