Perry sets tournament record in Travelers win

Kenny Perry shot a 7-under-par 63 Sunday to finish with a tournament-record 22-under 258 and win the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn., by three strokes.

Perry led after each of the first two rounds but trailed leader Paul Goydos by one stroke after the third round. Perry responded by shooting a 32 on the front nine, and he sealed the victory by making birdie on 17 after hitting a 164-yard approach to within 8 feet.

Perry has five victories in just more than a year, the most of any player on the PGA Tour, and leads the FedEx Cup standings. He has 12 top-10 finishes in that span while making every cut.

Goydos and David Toms tied for second at 19 under. Former UNLV star Ryan Moore tied for fourth at 17 under.

Also: South Korea's Jiyai Shin picked up her fifth title in 11 months with a seven-stroke victory at the Wegmans LPGA in Rochester, N.Y. She won $300,000 to move into first on the money list with $1 million.

Shin shot a 1-under 71 to finish in a downpour at 17-under 271. Kristy McPherson and Yani Tseng tied for second at 10 under.

Lonnie Nielsen shot a 9-under 63, passing second-round leader Fred Funk with a flourish on the front side and holding on to win the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in Endicott, N.Y., by three shots over Funk and Ronnie Black.

Nielsen finished at 21-under 195, a record in the three-year event. He shot 6 under on the first four holes in winning for the second time on the Champions Tour.

Nick Dougherty shot an 8-under 64 to win the BMW International Open in Munich by one stroke. He finished at 22-under 266.

Runner-up Rafa Echenique pulled off one of golf's rare feats, an albatross -- a two on a par-5 -- on No. 18 to complete his 10-under 62.
