Fourth-ranked Jankovic claims Andalucia title
Jelena Jankovic beat Carla Suarez Navarro 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 Sunday to win her first title of the season at the Andalucia Tennis Experience in Marbella, Spain.
The fourth-ranked Serb broke Suarez Navarro six times on the outdoor clay to improve to 3-0 against the Spaniard.
Suarez Navarro, playing in her first final, used one of her five break points to take the second set but was broken early in the third. Jankovic raced out to a 5-1 lead before holding on for her first victory since Moscow in October.
Also: Second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki defeated Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak 6-1, 6-2 to win The MPS Group Championships in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Wozniacki, from Denmark, won 84 percent of her first serve points in the WTA Tour's clay-court season opener.
Lleyton Hewitt of Australia held on to win his first tournament in two years with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over American Wayne Odesnik at the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships in Houston.
Hewitt won his 498th career match and moved closer to joining Roger Federer and Carlos Moya as the only active players with 500 or more victories.
Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain beat fifth-seeded Florent Serra of France 6-4, 7-5 to win the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco, Ferrero's first title since 2003.
HOCKEY
U.S. women roll past Canada in world final
The United States won its second straight women's World Hockey Championship title in Hameenlinna, Finland, beating Canada 4-1 behind defenseman Caitlin Cahow's two goals.
Goaltender Jessie Vetter made 39 saves, and the U.S. played a penalty-free game to secure its third title in the last four world championships.
It also marked the first time the U.S. defeated Canada in back-to-back finals at the women's worlds.

UNLV softball team routs Colorado State
The UNLV softball team piled up nine runs in the first two innings on its way to a 12-4 Mountain West Conference win over Colorado State at Eller Media Stadium.
Jaci Hull paced the Rebels, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Hull's three-run homer was part of a five-run second inning that gave the Rebels (25-14, 2-3 MWC) a 9-0 lead.
Also: North Carolina freshman basketball standout Ed Davis said he will return for the 2009-2010 season.
In a statement issued by the school, the 6-foot-10-inch forward said he would like to play in the NBA, but that he and his family don't think he is ready to take that step.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt said he tried marijuana as a kid, the German newspaper Bild reported.
"In Jamaica, you learn as a child how to roll a joint. Everyone here has tried it. I did too -- but I was real young then," Bolt told the paper. "My family and my friends don't smoke, and I don't hang out any longer with people who smoke."
Canadian Shawn Cowie and Sean O'Bannon of Ontario, Calif., earned Top Alcohol final-round wins during the NHRA Lucas Oil Series event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Cowie won the Top Alcohol Dragster title, and O'Bannon was first in Top Alcohol Funny Car.
Other winners included Henderson's Justin Lamb in the Competition Eliminator class and Tom Albritton of West Jordan, Utah, in Super Stock.
The 51s' Pacific Coast League road game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox was postponed due to snow. The game will be made up June 13 as part of a doubleheader.
