Grandmother relents, hands over Curry's son

The grandmother of Eddy Curry's 3-year-old son says she has obeyed a Cook County (Ill.) judge's order and turned the child over to attorneys for the New York Knicks player.

Yolan Henry's decision Thursday night reverses her plan to go on the run with Noah Curry. She says she plans an appeal. Henry told the Chicago Tribune after a custody hearing earlier that she thought it would be unfair to turn the boy over because he doesn't know Curry or his immediate family.

Henry had custody of the boy since her daughter and infant granddaughter were fatally shot in their Chicago home in January.

Devils goalie Brodeur dealt alimony setback

Two days after breaking the NHL record for wins by a goalie, the Devils' Martin Brodeur has been dealt an alimony setback by a New Jersey appeals court.

The court ruled that Brodeur must pay his ex-wife $500,000 a year until 2020.

Brodeur appealed, asking that he be required to pay alimony only until he retires, which he estimated to be in 2012. Melanie DuBois asked for alimony payments until 2024, when their youngest child is expected to graduate from college. The court ordered Brodeur to pay alimony until 2020, the year the youngest child graduates high school.

Elizabeth Williams filed a complaint Tuesday with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission naming Jason Siegel, Binghamton's senior associate athletic director, and Chris Lewis, its assistant athletic director for development, said her attorney, James A. Gregory.

Williams says that one of her superiors at the university told her, "You were not hired to have an opinion, but to look good and flirt with donors." And Williams says the university reassigned her to her home and told her not to appear at university athletic events.

Siegel, who was with the Binghamton men's basketball team at the NCAA Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., has denied wrongdoing. A phone call Thursday to Lewis' home seeking comment went unanswered.
