Late move gives Hamlin first
win in NASCAR's Truck Series
Denny Hamlin ducked inside points leader Austin Dillon and four-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. after a restart with 14 laps left and went on to win Saturday at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Va.
Hamlin's first victory in the series, in a truck owned by Kyle Busch, made him the 23rd driver to win a race in each of NASCAR's three national series.
Hornaday, seeking his fifth series championship, finished second and Dillon third. He remained the points leader -- by 11 over James Buescher and 15 over Hornaday and Johnny Sauter with two races left.

Van Pelt leads Overton by one
stroke in Asia Pacific Classic
Bo Van Pelt shot a 4-under-par 67 to take a one-stroke lead over fellow Indiana player Jeff Overton after the third round of the Asia Pacific Classic in Selangor, Malaysia.
Van Pelt was at 16-under 197 in the second-year event sanctioned by the PGA Tour and Asian Tour.
Also: Rory McIlroy shot a 7-under 65 to increase his lead to three strokes after the third round of the Shanghai Masters. He had seven birdies in another bogey-free round to finish at 18-under 198.
The 30 players in the tournament are vying for a $2 million first prize, the richest in golf.
Sergio Garcia put himself in position for a second straight European Tour victory, shooting a 4-under 67 at the Andalucia Masters in Sotogrande, Spain, to take a two-stroke lead after the third round. He is at 6-under 207.

White Pine football team tops
Stars for 9-0 regular season
Devante Valencia rushed for two touchdowns and Josh Ashby threw for two to help White Pine's football team complete a perfect regular season with a 26-8 win over Agassi Prep at Rancho High School.
Valencia intercepted a pass on the first play from scrimmage and, nine plays later, scored on an 8-yard run. He added a 10-yard TD run later in the quarter for the Bobcats (9-0, 7-0 Class 2A Southern League).
Ashby hit Jacob Johnson on an 8-yard TD pass in the second quarter and Levi Valdez on another 8-yard scoring pass in the third quarter as the Bobcats built a 26-0 lead.
The Stars (2-7, 2-5) scored in the fourth quarter on Julian Leos' 24-yard TD pass to Kendrick Glinton.
White Pine managed only 134 yards of total offense. Agassi Prep had 121 yards.
Also: Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova will play Victoria Azarenka in the WTA Championships final in Istanbul with the No. 2 ranking on the line along with a $1.5 million paycheck. Kvitova defeated U.S. Open winner Samantha Stosur 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, and Azarenka defeated Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeated qualifier Daniel Brands 6-2, 7-6 (4) to set up a final against Juan Martin del Potro at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. The second-seeded Del Potro defeated Kevin Anderson, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Janko Tipsarevic and Marin Cilic will meet in the final of the St. Petersburg Open in Russia. Tipsarevic defeated American Alex Bogomolov Jr. 6-2, 6-1, and Cilic ousted Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3, 6-4.
UNLV's main draw entries lost in the Larry Easley Memorial Classic at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Tamas Batyi fell to Auburn's Andreas Mies 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals, and the doubles team of Bernard Schoeman and Rene Ruegamer lost to Arkansas' Nicholas Zogaj and Jovan Parlic 8-2 in the quarterfinals.
The UNLV cross-country team finished seventh in the women's Mountain West Conference Championships in Fort Collins, Colo. Lauren Petersen took 22nd with a time of 22 minutes, 21.8 seconds to pace the Rebels, who finished with 179 points. New Mexico won the title for the fourth straight year, with 30 points.
UNLV lost to 25th-ranked Colorado State 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-17) in a Mountain West volleyball match at Fort Collins, Colo. The Rebels fell to 11-13 and 3-7.
The New York Yankees exercised contract options for next season on second baseman Robinson Cano ($14 million) and right fielder Nick Swisher ($10.25 million).
Chicago Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster will exercise his $14 million player option and return to the team in 2012.
The Dallas Cowboys waived running back Tashard Choice, who sustained a shoulder injury in last Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.
Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas and cornerback Vontae Davis won't play in today's game at the New York Giants because of hamstring injuries.
