Cink holds off Armour to claim Travelers title
Stewart Cink held off Las Vegan Tommy Armour III and defending champion Hunter Mahan on Sunday to win the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn., by a stroke.
Cink shot a 3-under 67 -- following rounds of 66, 64 and 65 -- to finish at 18-under 262 for his first victory since 2004.
The victory was Cink's first after six top-10 finishes this year, earning him $1.08 million. It also pushed him to third place in the FedEx Cup standings behind Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, and into second place in the U.S. Ryder Cup standings.
Armour won $528,000.
Also: Eun-Hee Ji won the Wegmans LPGA at Rochester, N.Y., for her first LPGA Tour title, rallying to beat Suzann Pettersen by two strokes.
Bishop Gorman High School graduate In-Bee Park shot 74 and finished in a four-way tie for sixth.
Jeff Sluman claimed the Bank of America Championship at Concord, Mass., for his first Champions Tour title, finishing an 8-under 64 with a 34-foot birdie on the par-5 18th hole for a two-stroke victory over Loren Roberts (67).
Martin Kaymer (75) became the first German winner in BMW International Open history, birdieing the first hole of a playoff with Denmark's Anders Hansen (67) after blowing a six-stroke lead in the final round at Munich, Germany.
Scott Hebert captured the PGA Professional National Championship at Lake Oconee, Ga., closing with a 4-under 68 at Great Waters for a one-stroke victory over Sonny Skinner (69).

Schumacher captures NHRA Top Fuel crown
A day after Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta was killed in a qualifying accident, five-time world champion Tony Schumacher raced to his first Top Fuel win in 12 tries at the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals in Englishtown, N.J.
"With the passing of Scott Kalitta, today's race was extremely tough to get through from an emotional standpoint. But we managed to take care of business like Scott would have wanted us to," Schumacher said.
Schumacher had a 4.589-second run at 325.06 to defeat Brandon Bernstein for his 46th win, moving him within six of Joe Amato (52) for most Top Fuel wins ever.
Tim Wilkerson (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Chip Ellis (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won in their divisions.
Also: Dan Wheldon celebrated his 30th birthday by winning the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Newton, Iowa, for his second victory of the season.
Wheldon took the lead out of a caution flag with 60 laps to go after making the risky decision not to pit. The move paid off, as Wheldon held off Andretti Green drivers Hideki Mutoh and Marco Andretti down the stretch.
Wheldon plans to donate his winnings to the victims of Iowa's recent floods and tornados.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari won Formula One's French Grand Prix at Magny Cours, France.
Jeff Connors claimed the 40-lap Super Late Models feature Saturday night in the NASCAR All-American Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Bullring.
Bear Rzesnowiecky finished second but was disqualified after failing post-race inspection to move Scott Gafforini into second.
Other winners: Doug Hamm (Modifieds), Justin Johnson (Thunder Roadsters), Jeremiah Wagner (Legends), Kolleen Dresser (Bandolero Young Guns), Jonathan Eakin (Bandolero Bandits) and Billy Bob Grasser (demolition derby).

Johnson, Liukin lock up U.S. gymnastic berths
Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin earned guaranteed spots on the U.S. women's gymnastics team after finishing 1-2 at the Olympic trials in Philadelphia.
The remaining four members of the team and three alternates will be named after a July 20 selection camp at the Karolyi ranch in Houston.
Comeback kid Chellsie Memmel continues to make her case, finishing third just as she did at nationals.
The training squad for the final selection camp is Memmel, Peszek, Jana Bieger, Chelsea Davis, Ivana Hong, Mattie Larson, Corrie Lothrop, Alicia Sacramone, Bridget Sloan and Shayla Worley.
Also: Morgan Hamm was selected for the U.S. men's gymnastics team for the Beijing Games, along with Kevin Tan, Joseph Hagerty and Justin Spring. Paul Hamm, the reigning Olympic champion and Morgan's twin, and Jonathan Horton were chosen Saturday after the conclusion of the Olympic trials in Philadelphia.
With the first perfect dive of her long career, Laura Wilkinson, 30, locked up a third -- and final -- trip to the Olympics, holding off teenage phenom Haley Ishimatsu on 10-meter platform at the U.S. diving trials in Indianapolis.
On the men's side, 19-year-old David Boudia beat 18-year-old Thomas Finchum, his close friend and longtime training partner, in a battle of 10s on the men's platform.

U.S. squad advances to World Cup semifinals
The United States advanced to the regional semifinals of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup with a listless 1-0 victory over Barbados in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Eddie Lewis scored in the 21st minute off a through ball from 19-year-old Freddy Adu, who started his first World Cup qualifier. Lewis took the pass and put the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Alvin Rouse for his 10th goal in 80 international appearances.
The United States, which is seeking its sixth straight World Cup berth, already was way ahead in the home-and-home, total-goals series following a rout at Carson, Calif., on June 15, and advanced on 9-0 aggregate.
Also: Cuba advanced to a politically charged semifinal group with the United States in qualifying for the World Cup, defeating Antigua and Barbuda 4-0 in Havana as Roberto Linares scored three goals.
Trinidad and Tobago moved on to the regional semifinals of World Cup qualifying, winning 2-0 at Bermuda.
Asian champion Iraq was eliminated from qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, losing to Qatar 1-0 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
MISCELLANEOUS
UNLV women's rodeo earns national title
The UNLV women's rodeo team won the College National Finals Rodeo championship Saturday night after a week of competition at Casper, Wyo. It is the team's first national title since 1999.
The Rebels were led by second overall finishes by Nellie Williams of Cottonwood, Calif., in barrel racing and Kassi Venturacci, of Fallon, in goat tying.
Wes Lockard of Standish, Calif., led the UNLV men by placing second in the all-around cowboy standings, finishing fourth in steer wrestling.
Walla Walla (Wash.) Community College won the men's title.
Also: Roman Kreuziger held off Andreas Kloeden to win the Tour de Suisse in Bern, Switzerland, for the biggest victory of his career.
The Czech cyclist held a 49-second lead over Kloeden going into the final stage, and was never threatened during the 104-mile ride.
Blake Williams won the freestyle motocross event and Daniel Dhers rose from 11th place to top the BMX Park field in the in the AST Dew Tour's Panasonic Open in Baltimore.
