Federer draws Querrey to start French Open
Top-ranked Roger Federer will face American Sam Querrey at the French Open, beginning the latest bid for the only Grand Slam title missing from his collection.
But Federer is not looking too far ahead.
"My focus is on Sam Querrey and not the final," Federer said.
Second-ranked Rafael Nadal will play a qualifier in the first round as he attempts to win a record-tying fourth straight title on the red clay of Roland Garros.
"I feel very good physically," said Nadal, who has never lost a match at the French Open.
Maria Sharapova is the top seed following the retirement of four-time champion Justine Henin. Sharapova, who has won the three other Grand Slam titles, will face fellow Russian Evgeniya Rodina in the first round.
Friday's draw left No. 3 Novak Djokovic in the same half with Nadal, giving Federer a clearer path to the final. The tournament begins Sunday and ends June 8.

Woods tells PGA Tour he will miss Memorial
Tiger Woods decided Friday not to play in the Memorial as he recovers from knee surgery, meaning he probably will go to the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines without having played a tournament in two months.
Woods, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee April 15, was hopeful of playing before the U.S. Open. But his office notified the PGA Tour that he would not enter the Memorial.
This is the second time in three years that Woods has had a two-month layoff before a major championship. He missed nine weeks in 2006 while coping with the death of his father, returning to the U.S. Open at Winged Foot and missing the cut for the only time in a major.
Also: Phil Mickelson had 11 one-putts and converted all six sand saves in a 2-under-par 68 in the second round to take the lead at 7-under 133 at the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
The world's No. 2-ranked player led Matt Kuchar (64), Brian Gay (65) and Johnson Wagner (71) by one stroke.
Dina Ammaccapane had six birdies and three bogeys in a seesaw day and shot her second straight 69 to move to 6 under and gain a one-stroke lead over four players after two rounds of the LPGA Corning Classic in Corning, N.Y.
Closing with a 25-foot putt for birdie, Tom Purtzer carded a 3-under 67 for an even-par 140 total and a one-shot lead over first-round leader Jay Haas (72) and Massy Kuramoto (68) after the second round of the Senior PGA Championship in Rochester, N.Y.

The UNLV women's golf team posted its best-ever finish at the NCAA Championships, finishing 16th.
UNLV carded a four-round total of 71-over 1,223 (314-297-304-308), and all five players in the lineup, which featured two freshmen and a sophomore, were making their first NCAA tournament appearance.
UNLV freshman Therese Koelbaek finished tied for 34th. Southern California won the team title.
