Top seed Roddick upset in quarterfinal match

Robin Soderling upset top-seeded Andy Roddick 7-6 (6), 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships on Friday at Memphis, Tenn.

Roddick won in San Jose, Calif., last week and entered Friday's match 10-1 this season. Soderling had been 7-19 against top-10 players.

Soderling next will play Czech Radek Stepanek, who beat Chris Guccione of Australia, 7-6 (4), 6-1.

On the women's side, fourth-seeded Lindsay Davenport beat qualifier Marina Erakovic, 6-0, 6-3. Davenport will meet fifth-seeded Olga Govortsova of Belarus tonight for the Cellular South Cup title.

Also: Second-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova will play eighth-seeded Elena Dementieva in an all-Russian final of the Dubai Championships at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Kuznetsova beat fourth-seeded Jelena Jankovic, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Dementieva rallied to beat unseeded Francesa Schiavone of Italy, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.

Top-seeded Ivan Ljubicic needed seven match points to beat fellow Croatian Mario Ancic 7-6 (2), 6-4 and reach the Zagreb Indoors final at Zagreb, Croatia.

In the other semi, Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine beat Simone Bolelli of Italy 6-4, 6-4, to became the first lucky loser from qualifying to make an ATP final since Sweden's Nicklas Kulti in 1999.

Stakhovsky made the main draw after Michael Llodra withdrew.

Federico Luzzi was suspended 200 days and fined $50,000 by the ATP for betting 273 times on tennis matches. He's the fifth Italian player punished for gambling on matches.

The ATP found Luzzi bet 273 times between May 2004 and April 2007. The ATP and an anti-corruption hearing officer found "no evidence" the 28-year-old player tried to influence the results of matches on which he bet.

Donovan got his 35th career goal Jan. 19 in a 2-0 victory over Sweden.
