Seahawks lock up Tatupu through 2015

Lofa Tatupu agreed to a $42 million contract with Seattle that will keep the Pro Bowl linebacker with the Seahawks through the 2015 season.

"This isn't just Good Friday. It's great Friday," Tatupu told Seahawks president Tim Ruskell upon finalizing the contract. "I'm going to end my career with the Seahawks."

The deal includes the final two years on the original contract he signed after being selected in the second round out of Southern California in 2005, plus six more years worth a potential $42 million.

Also: The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with record-setting kicker Jason Elam, who is leaving Denver after 15 seasons with the Broncos.

Elam, 38, confirmed the four-year, $9 million deal in a telephone conversation with The Associated Press.

The Green Bay Packers have signed safety Atari Bigby to a one-year contract as an exclusive-rights free agent, a source familiar with the situation said.

The estranged girlfriend of former Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson denies that he punched her in the face at a suburban Pittsburgh restaurant this week.

Lindsey Paulat said Wilson got upset but only shoved her when he saw her drinking Wednesday night.

"He never punched. He pushed me in the side of the head," Paulat told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "It was misconstrued, apparently, by the people around us."

Wilson, 29, was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He is free on $10,000 bail.

The Steelers released Wilson on Thursday.

Danny Wimprine threw four touchdown passes as the New Orleans Voodoo beat the Cleveland Gladiators -- a former Las Vegas franchise -- 63-24 in an Arena Football League game.

In other games, the Columbus Destroyers beat the Utah Blaze 52-49, and the Arizona Rattlers beat the New York Dragons, 62-33.

Sabres center Connolly to undergo hip surgery

Buffalo Sabres center Tim Connolly will miss the rest of the regular season after the team decided he'll have surgery to remove bone chips in his hip.

Connolly is scheduled to have surgery on Monday in Colorado. It's unclear whether Connolly will be able to return should the Sabres qualify for the playoffs.

Also: New York Rangers checking forward Blair Betts had foot surgery and will be out two to three weeks.

Van Pelt leads by shot in Puerto Rico Open

Bo Van Pelt, seeking his first PGA Tour victory, shot a 4-under-par 68 to take a one-stroke lead over Jerry Kelly halfway through the inaugural Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Kelly had a chance to tie Van Pelt but missed a 5-foot birdie putt on No. 18. Still, he shot 67.

Also: Michelle Wie withdrew from next week's Safeway International in Arizona after tweaking an injury to her left wrist during practice last week.

Alain Bernard of France shattered the 100-meter freestyle world record with a time of 47.60 seconds at the European swimming championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder of France won the ice dance title at the World Figure Skating Championships in Goteborg, Sweden, while Americans Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto are going home without a medal for the first time since 2004.
