Hawaii QB Brennan cleared to play at UNR

After sitting out two days of practice following a concussion, Colt Brennan returned to the field Wednesday, with Hawaii coach June Jones saying the quarterback has been cleared to play Friday at UNR.

Doctors and trainers have determined Brennan is fine following the injury Saturday in a 37-30 victory over Fresno State, Jones said.

Brennan needs just one more touchdown pass to reach 122 and break the NCAA career record set by Brigham Young's Ty Detmer in 1991.

Also: Florida receiver Percy Harvin missed his fifth consecutive practice and likely won't play against Florida Atlantic.

Coach Urban Meyer said Harvin is fighting a sinus infection and migraine headaches. Harvin is the Gators' leading receiver and third-leading rusher.

Defensive end Craig Mester recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter and ran 7 yards for a touchdown to give Miami of Ohio a 7-0 win over Akron in Oxford, Ohio.

Kentucky guard Meeks out at least one month

Kentucky will be without its top outside shooter for at least a month after guard Jodie Meeks was diagnosed with a stress fracture.

Meeks suffered the injury to his pelvic area when he fell to the ground during an exhibition game against Seattle. He started but was ineffective in two regular-season games after that.

Coach Billy Gillispie said Meeks is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Also: Junior guard Billy Humphrey has been indefinitely suspended from the Georgia basketball team following his arrest for possession of a weapon on school property.

Humphrey's lawyer, Kim Stephens, said he would file a motion as early as today to have the charge dismissed. Stephens said the charge stemmed from "what amounts to a little butterfly knife in a winter coat in a closet."

Roddick beat No. 7 Fernando Gonzalez 6-1, 6-4 to improve to 2-0 in round-robin play.

Both Roddick and Gonzalez won their opening matches, with the Chilean upsetting Federer. It was Federer's second consecutive loss, the first time he had lost twice in a row in 41/2 years.
