North Carolina, Davis agree on extension
North Carolina and coach Butch Davis agreed Wednesday to a one-year contract extension through the 2014 season.
Davis also will receive a raise of $291,000 that will push his annual income to about $2.1 million. The raise and extension are expected to be approved next week by the university's board of trustees.
Davis is 3-8 in his first season in Chapel Hill, but had been rumored as a possible candidate at Arkansas if the Razorbacks make a coaching change.
Also: Oklahoma still doesn't know if quarterback Sam Bradford, who suffered a concussion last week, will be able to play against Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Coach Bob Stoops said Bradford would be re-evaluated today.
Bradford was hurt in the first quarter of Oklahoma's 34-27 loss at Texas Tech on Saturday, which knocked the 10th-ranked Sooners out of the national title picture. Bradford has thrown for 2,520 yards and 28 touchdowns this season and is the nation's top-rated passer.
Oklahoma will be without leading rusher DeMarco Murray (knee), defensive end Alan Davis (concussion) and backup receiver Adron Tennell (knee).

Former 100-meter world-record holder Calvin Smith, two-time Olympian Jane Frederick and three others will be inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame next month.
Also chosen were 1936 Olympic decathlon winner Glenn Morris, shot put champion George Woods and longtime UCLA coach Elvin C. "Ducky" Drake.
Smith set the 100-meter record of 9.93 seconds in 1983, breaking the 9.95 mark of Jim Hines that had stood for 15 years.
