Sutherland shoots 65, leads by two strokes

Kevin Sutherland shot a 7-under-par 65 in favorable scoring conditions Thursday to take a two-stroke lead after the first round of the AT&T Classic in Duluth, Ga.

Tommy Armour III, a Bishop Gorman High School graduate, and Summerlin resident Bob May were in a group with Ryuji Imada, Stephen Marino and Craig Kanada at 67.

Sutherland's 8-iron shot hit the lip of the bunker on the par-3 16th and rolled into the sand, but the 42-year-old holed the bunker shot for the first of three consecutive birdies.

After hitting a wedge to within 5 feet at No. 17, Sutherland reached the 18th green in two shots, leading to the second of his four birdies on the par 5s.

Also: Sarah Lee shot a bogey-free 6-under 66 to take a two-stroke lead over defending champion Lorena Ochoa and four others after the first round of the LPGA Tour's Sybase Classic in Clifton, N.J.

Se Ri Pak, Brittany Lincicome, rookie Angela Park and Hye Jung Choi joined Ochoa at 68.

England's Simon Dyson, Swedes Peter Hanson and Peter Gustafsson and Argentina's Andres Romero shot 4-under 68s to share the Irish Open lead in Adare, England.

Nuggets' Camby rejects offer from U.S. team

Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby, the NBA's defensive player of the year, declined an invitation from USA Basketball to participate in the team's camp in Las Vegas this summer because of a family matter.

Earlier this month, Camby's wife delivered the couple's second child, a girl.

The U.S. team was looking for a defensive rebounder and shot blocker to complement the offensive stars that usually fill the roster.

Also: Golden State Warriors owner Chris Cohan owes more than $160 million in back income taxes and penalties from the 1998 sale of a cable television company, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

The IRS claims Cohan set up three tax shelters to avoid a hefty bill after selling cable TV company Sonic Communications to Charter Communications for more than $200 million. As a result, the government is demanding about $95 million in past due taxes and another $66 million in penalties from Cohan, federal court records show.

North Carolina gave coach Roy Williams a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the Tar Heels through the 2014-15 season. He will make up to $1.8 million each year plus incentives.

Ex-champ Frazier refiles suit against daughter

Former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier has refiled a lawsuit against his daughter, days after she won a primary election for Philadelphia Municipal Court judge.

Jacquelyn Frazier-Lyde turned over some of the documents that are being sought, but she hasn't fully accounted for the money she managed for her father from 1989 to 2004, Frazier lawyer Michael P. Kelly said.

Frazier's lawyers think he may be missing out on film royalties, product endorsement fees or other income perhaps promised in his old contracts.
