Beavers defeat 51s in rain-shortened game
Clay Hensley allowed two runs on six hits in four innings Sunday in a rehab assignment as the Portland Beavers beat the 51s 7-2 in a rain-shortened, 5 1/2-inning Pacific Coast League game in Portland, Ore.
Royce Huffman had three RBIs for the Beavers (19-23), who snapped a four-game losing streak.
Delwyn Young homered in the fourth inning for Las Vegas (20-22) off Hensley, who is on the disabled list with the San Diego Padres.
HORSE RACING
Time to Get Even gives Flores 3,000th victory
Time to Get Even won the Lazaro S. Barrera Memorial Stakes at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., giving jockey David Flores his 3,000th career victory.
Time to Get Even beat Principle Secret by a neck, running seven furlongs in 1:21.91. Time to Get Even, making his third career start, paid $16.20, $6 and $4.80.
Also: Sightseeing got up in the final stride to beat Prom Shoes by a nose in the $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes for 3-year-olds at Belmont Park in New York.
Sightseeing covered the 1 1-8 miles on a fast track in 1:48.89 and paid $3.20, $2.60 and $2.10. Prom Shoes returned $9.20 and $5.20. Fearless Vision earned $2.80 to show.

Mladin gains sweep of AMA Superbike races
Mat Mladin swept the weekend AMA Superbike races at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., to tie Yoshimura Suzuki teammate Ben Spies for the series lead.
Also: Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael won the opening round of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship, beating Kawasaki's James Stewart in the Honda Hangtown Classic in Sacramento, Calif.

Ethiopian Defar sets record in 2-mile run
Meseret Defar of Ethiopia won the women's 2-mile run with a world-record time at the Adidas Track Classic in Carson, Calif., while pole vaulter Jenn Stuczynski and javelin thrower Breaux Greer set American records.
Olympic and world champion Jeremy Wariner won the men's 400 and Allyson Felix took the women's 200.
Defar won in 9 minutes, 10.47 seconds, lowering the mark of 9:11.97 set by American Regina Jacobs in 1999.
Stuczynski won the women's pole vault at 15 feet, 10 inches, taking down Stacy Dragila's three-year-old mark of 15-10.
Greer lowered his own American mark in the javelin on his first throw of 297-7. His previous best was 287-8 in 2004.
Also: Misty May-Treanor broke the AVP Tour's career victory record for women, teaming with Kerri Walsh to win the Hermosa Beach (Calif.) Open.
May-Treanor has 73 titles to move past former playing partner Holly McPeak on the career list.
May-Treanor and Walsh, third on the list with 70 wins, beat Tyra Turner and Rachel Wacholder 21-15, 21-11 for their fourth straight tour victory.
New York Jets kick returner Justin Miller was arrested and charged with third-degree assault after a fight at a New York City nightclub.
ESPN.com reported that the 23-year-old Pro Bowl returner was arrested after allegedly punching a woman in a nightclub. He was apprehended following a police chase at 4:20 a.m. According to the report, police said Miller swung at a man, but hit the woman when the man ducked out of the way.
Former Detroit Lions lineman John Gonzaga has died. He was 74.
Gonzaga died Thursday at his home in the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield Township.
