Kyle Busch dominates, claims
NASCAR truck win in Phoenix
Kyle Busch was the fastest out of the pits on the opening stop and on the track the rest of the night, leading the final 107 laps to win a wreck-filled NASCAR trucks race at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Ariz., on Friday.
NASCAR voted in the offseason that drivers must declare which series they're racing for a championship to prevent Sprint Cup drivers from driving for titles in the Nationwide and trucks series.
Michael Waltrip won the opener at Daytona and Busch made it two straight Sprint Cup drivers to win truck races, rarely challenged after taking the lead in the 150-lap race around Phoenix's mile-long oval.
Pole-sitter Clint Bowyer finished second and Ron Hornaday third in the first winter truck race at Phoenix in 11 years.
Las Vegan Justin Johnson finished eighth in his first truck race. Fellow Las Vegan Dusty Davis, Johnson's Vision Aviation Racing teammate who also debuted in the series, was running in the top 15 when he was caught in a crash midway in the race and placed 26th.
Also: Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne is still working on finding sponsors for his Sprint Cup and Nationwide cars.
The 20-year-old driver said he would like to add both races at Talladega but doesn't have anything lined up. He also said his car would have a lot of open spaces on it this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway because the Wood Brothers are still trying to line up more sponsors.
Bayne is scheduled for 18 Sprint Cup races but would like a full season. His Nationwide car doesn't have a sponsor.
The youngest driver to win the Daytona 500, Bayne has had a chaotic week, including calls from President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, TV appearances and meeting actress Pamela Anderson, who told him he reminded her of her son.
Bayne's first post-Daytona weekend didn't start off well.
Early in Friday's practice session at Phoenix, the front end of his No. 21 car locked up, sending him careening into the wall off Turn 3. The practice session was red-flagged as a tow truck came out to take Bayne's car off the track, and the team pulled out his backup from the hauler.
Persistent rain showers forced NHRA officials to cancel qualifying runs at the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Calif. Qualifying will resume today, weather permitting, with two sessions for the season-opening races. Eliminations begin Sunday.

Stroud goes on birdie binge,
takes lead at Mayakoba Classic
Chris Stroud made eight straight birdies -- one off the PGA Tour record -- and shot an 8-under-par 63 to take a three-stroke lead after the second round of the Mayakoba Classic in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Winless in five seasons on the PGA Tour, the 29-year-old Stroud started the birdie run on No. 9. Mark Calcavecchia set the record of nine straight birdies in the second round of the 2009 Canadian Open at Glen Abbey.
Stroud had an 11-under 131 total on the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleon course south of Cancun on the Caribbean coast. Kevin Stadler (66), Cameron Percy (66) and Sunghoon Kang (67) were tied for second.
Former UNLV standout Andres Gonzales, who was tied for the first-round lead with David Toms after shooting a 66 on Thursday, came back with a 72 and was seven shots behind Stroud.
Also: Japan's Chie Arimura shot a 6-under 66 to widen her lead to two strokes over Karrie Webb after the second round of the HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore.
Arimura, ranked 19th in the world, made six birdies and an eagle and overcame bogeys on two of her first three holes to post a 10-under 134 total.
Webb also shot 66 with an eagle on the par-5 ninth.

Federer maintained his dominance over Richard Gasquet of France with a 6-2, 7-5 victory in one semifinal. Djokovic beat a hobbling Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic, whose thigh injury forced him to retire while trailing 6-7 (5), 6-2, 4-2 in the second.

Also: A congressional panel and law firm that investigated performance-enhancing drugs in baseball have agreed to respond to subpoenas issued by Roger Clemens in the next three weeks.
The former star pitcher served subpoenas two weeks ago on George Mitchell's former law firm, which investigated the issue for Major League Baseball and on a House committee that held subsequent hearings. The subpoenas sought evidence they collected on whether Clemens used drugs. Clemens maintains he did not, but prosecutors have charged him with lying.
