Former Clemson player Stanley
leads by one in Honda Classic
Kyle Stanley shot a 4-under-par 66 at a windy Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on Friday to take a one-shot lead over Rory Sabbatini, who tied the tournament record at PGA National with a 64.
Stanley had six birdies, including three in a row, to offset two bogeys and was at 6-under 134 in a bid for his first PGA Tour victory. Winds gusted to more than 20 mph for the second consecutive day but abated some in the afternoon, and Stanley's late tee time allowed him to take advantage.
Stanley, 23, played at Clemson, turned pro in 2009 and had a career-best 13th-place finish last week in the Mayakoba Golf Classic.
Defending champion Camilo Villegas missed the cut, shooting a 78 that put him at 17 over.
Also: Frank Chirkinian, the longtime golf producer for CBS who helped turn the Masters into one of the most watched events in sports television, died Friday at his home in North Palm Beach, Fla., of lung cancer. He was 84.

Ex-NFL receiver Burress to get
time off for good behavior
Former NFL star receiver Plaxico Burress will get out of prison June 6, after officials agreed to shave about three months off his time behind bars in a gun case.
A committee of prison-system staffers decided Burress, 33, was eligible for time off for good behavior. He will be freed after serving about 21 months of his two-year sentence at an upstate New York prison.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has ruled that Burress would be reinstated and eligible to sign with a team upon completing his sentence. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said several teams had expressed interest in Burress.
Burress pleaded guilty in August 2009 to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He went to a Manhattan nightclub in November 2008 with a gun tucked in the waistband of his track pants, and it slipped down his leg and fired, injuring him in the thigh.
