Djokovic rolls past Gasquet to claim Rogers Cup crown
Top-seeded Novak Djokovic won his second straight Rogers Cup title and third overall, beating Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday in Toronto.
The Serbian star, also the tournament winner in 2007, earned his first title since the ATP Masters stop in Miami four months back.
Gasquet, the 14th-seed Frenchman, was making his first Masters 1000 finals appearance since losing to Roger Federer in Toronto in 2006.
Also: Tenth-seeded Li Na rallied to beat 16th-seeded Lucie Safarova 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and advance to the final at the rain-delayed Rogers Cup in Montreal.
In today's final, Na will face fifth-seeded Petra Kvitova, a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 winner over seventh-seeded Caroline Wozniacki.

City to City makes late surge to win Del Mar's Mabee Stakes
City to City gave jockey Corey Nakatani his third win of the afternoon as she rallied in the stretch to nose out hard-luck All Star Heart in the final stride in the featured Grade 2, $250,000 John C. Mabee Stakes for older fillies and mares at Del Mar, Calif.
City to City, winner of the 2011 Palomar Handicap at Del Mar, charged from fifth in the early running to get up at the wire in the 1 1/8-mile contest on turf.
The 5-year-old mare narrowly missed the stakes record, finishing in 1 minute, 46.50 seconds, just off the mark of 1:46.34 set by Precious Kitten in the '07 Mabee.
Her bankroll now is $679,726. To her backers in a crowd of 15,844, she paid $15, $6.40 and $4.60.
Also: Kauai Katie and Spurious Precision won $200,000 stakes races for 2-year-olds at Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The Todd Pletcher-trained Kauai Katie took the Adirondack for fillies, beating Salamera by 2¾ lengths. Ridden by Rosie Napravnik, she ran 6½ furlongs in 1:16.81.
Spurious Precision, trained by Richard Violette, romped to a five-length victory over He's So Fine, running 6½ furlongs in 1:16.53.

Las Vegan Gomez nets spot on U.S. team for match vs. Mexico
Las Vegan Herculez Gomez was among 22 players on the roster for the U.S. men's soccer team's exhibition match at Mexico on Wednesday. Gomez, who plays professionally for Santos Laguna, was one of six Americans selected from Mexican clubs, joined by defenders Edgar Castillo and Michael Orozco, and midfielders DaMarcus Beasley, Joe Corona and Jose Torres
Clint Dempsey, Carlos Bocanegra and Steve Cherundolo were among the veterans omitted from the U.S. roster by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, while defenders Steven Beitashour and Matt Besler could make their national team debuts.
Seven players are based in Europe: goalkeeper Tim Howard, defenders Geoff Cameron and Fabian Johnson, midfielders Maurice Edu, Jermaine Jones and Danny Williams, and forward Terrence Boyd.
Off to a 1-0-1 start in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, the U.S. is preparing for a pair of qualifiers against Jamaica, on the road on Sept. 7 and at Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 11.
