Dixon gets 10th Top Fuel victory at U.S. Nationals
Larry Dixon kept his perfect final round streak going Monday by racing to his 10th win of the season in Top Fuel at the NHRA's U.S. Nationals in Clermont, Ind.
Dixon earned his fourth win at Indy and 58th of his career by outrunning Cory McClenathan. Dixon covered the O'Reilly Raceway Park dragstrip in 3.837 seconds at 319.60 mph to hold off McClenathan, who trailed with a 3.870 at 319.82.
Ashley Force Hood (Funny Car), Greg Stanfield (Pro Stock) and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were winners in their respective categories at the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship event, the first of six playoff races.

Jepson's two goals lift women's soccer team
Colette Jepson scored two goals, and Macy Jo Harrison and LaChere Anglin added a goal apiece as the UNLV women's soccer team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 4-2 victory over Colorado in the consolation game of the Denver Invitational in Denver.
Goalkeeper Kylie Wassell had seven saves as the Rebels matched the best start in school history.
Also: Stephen Sifuentes and Nick Marshall scored two goals each as the UNLV men's soccer team scored the most goals in 22 years with an 8-1 win over Alabama A&M in the final game of the Nike Invitational at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
Jose Mendoza, Joaquin Rivas, Camilo Valencia and Robert Garcia added a goal apiece for the Rebels (1-1).

McEnroe steps down as U.S. Davis Cup captain
Patrick McEnroe resigned as U.S. Davis Cup captain after 10 years and will leave after the Americans' playoff against Colombia this month.
McEnroe led the United States to a Davis Cup title in 2007. But for the first time since 2005, the Americans must win in the playoffs to secure a spot in the top tier of the Davis Cup.
"Obviously it's mixed emotions for me because of what Davis Cup has meant to me for 10 years, to the players that have supported it," McEnroe said at a news conference at the U.S. Open in New York. "But I feel now is a good time for a transition, and I can focus on my professional energies, player development, and obviously will still be very involved with the team and who plays on the team and supporting the guys that are part of the team."
Also: The Atlanta Thrashers signed free agent forward Fredrik Modin, giving the team another veteran with experience in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The 35-year-old Modin had 11 points in 44 games with Columbus and the Los Angeles Kings last season.
Mr Piloto upset eight rivals in the 440-yard All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack in Ruidoso, N.M.
Going off at 22-1 odds, Mr Piloto won by a nose over JLS Mr Bigtime and by a neck over Dominyun in the second-closest finish in the 52 years of the event.
Mr Piloto paid $46.60 to win, $20.60 to place and $8.40 to show.
The No. 1 high school football team in Texas scored 80 points at Cowboys Stadium -- again.
Euless Trinity routed six-time Arkansas state champion Shiloh Christian, 80-26. Both schools are among the nation's top high school teams.
Last November at Cowboys Stadium, Trinity beat Flower Mound won 80-27 in a first-round playoff game and went on to capture its third state title in five years.
