Lake Mead softball rolls to victory

Lynzee Freund tossed a three-hitter to help Lake Mead's softball team to an 18-0 victory over Indian Springs in the first round of the Class 1A Southern Region tournament Thursday at Alamo.
Freund struck out 10 and walked one.
The Eagles (13-14-1) managed just three hits but were helped by 12 errors by the Thunderbirds (10-9).
* Pahranagat Valley 12, Tonopah 1 -- Roxie Lasike was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs to lead the Panthers over the Muckers (7-10).
Tami Spencer added two hits, and Addie Canning pitched a two-hitter for the Panthers (16-8-1).
BASEBALL
* Pahranagat Valley 20, Tonopah 3 -- The Panthers scored 15 runs in the fourth on the way to a five-inning rout of the Muckers in the first round of the 1A Southern Region playoffs.
The fourth inning was highlighted by Brady Whipple's three-run homer.
Dustin Poulsen earned a complete-game win for the Panthers (12-9), who will play Lake Mead at 3:30 p.m. today for a spot in Saturday's title game.
Tonopah fell to 7-8.
* Lake Mead 9, Indian Springs 5 -- The Eagles (17-8), seeded No. 2 in the Southern League, upset the Central League champion Thunderbirds (16-5) in a first-round game.
Indian Springs will meet Tonopah in an elimination game at 1 p.m. today.
