Larcher De Brito, Brengle reach final of Red Rock Pro Open
Michelle Larcher De Brito of Portugal and Madison Brengle of the United States will meet in today’s final of the Red Rock Pro Open.
Larcher De Brito, the No. 8 seed, advanced with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over third-seeded Anna Tatishvili in the first semifinal Saturday of the USTA Women’s $50,000 Pro Circuit event at Red Rock Country Club.
Brengle, the No. 4 seed, then ended qualifier Kateryna Bondarenko’s run of six consecutive wins with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Larcher De Brito and Brengle have faced each other seven times, with Larcher De Brito winning five of the matches. They met last year in the second round in Las Vegas, with the unseeded Brengle upsetting the No. 2-seeded Larcher De Brito 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Action begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with Las Vegan Asia Muhammad and Maria Sanchez, seeded No. 1, meeting second-seeded Veronica Cepede Royg and Maria Irigoyen in the doubles final. The singles final will follow.
