Parameters haven't been established and no city has officially applied to host a potential Pac-12 Conference championship football game next year, but Las Vegas is definitely interested.
What now is the Pac-10 will add Utah and Colorado next season, giving it the required 12 members for a title game.
"I think it would be great for our city," MAACO Bowl Las Vegas executive director Tina Kunzer-Murphy said Thursday. "There are a whole lot of reasons for us to have the Pac-10 championship, but the ultimate decision is up to the chancellors, presidents and (athletic directors).
"It will have to be a group effort (from Las Vegas), and we'll see how it plays out."
An ESPN.com report also listed Los Angeles, Seattle and Glendale, Ariz., as cities that would be considered.
The conference athletic directors meet Oct. 6 and 7 and the chancellors and presidents Oct. 21. Though the main topic will be divisional alignment, a title game also could be discussed.
Conference spokesman Dave Hirsch said the league had no comment.
Las Vegas has several advantages in trying to land the game that include being a top tourist destination, its ability to handle large events and its relatively convenient location to Pac-12 schools.
The one notable drawback could be the 36,800-seat Sam Boyd Stadium, which could be expanded to 40,000. Las Vegas could argue it's just the right size because a full stadium is almost a guarantee at Sam Boyd and wouldn't be at a much larger setting, where empty seats wouldn't play well on television.
