Late free throws lift Cheyenne over Centennial

Elijah Johnson hit two free throws with 2.9 seconds to play to lift Cheyenne's boys basketball team to a 71-69 home win over Centennial on Wednesday.

Cheyenne trailed 32-23 at the half but outscored the Bulldogs 28-12 in the third quarter to get back into the game.

Johnson had 21 points for the Desert Shields, and teammate Ricky Henry scored 14.

Adam Young led Centennial with 16 points.

Foothill 76, Green Valley 74 -- At Foothill, Earl Jones scored 13 of his 17 points in a fourth-quarter comeback by the Falcons.

Foothill trailed 56-52 entering the final period but took a 76-72 lead in the closing seconds.

Jerry Harville added 16 points for Foothill. Cody Aughney led Green Valley with 26 points.

Liberty 55, Coronado 54 -- At Coronado, Justin King scored 19 points to help the Patriots outlast the Cougars.

Cory Ford led Coronado with 19 points.

Legacy 75, Shadow Ridge 71 -- At Legacy, Sonny Sandifer scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Longhorns to a come-from-behind win.

Sandifer and Walter Chappell, who had 10 of his 18 points in the fourth, led the comeback. Shadow Ridge's Josh Berkley had 19 points.

Silverado 59, Basic 47 -- At Basic, Ali Sabra scored 19 points to lead the Skyhawks over the Wolves.

Wade Collie added 12 points for Silverado. Josh Ross had 18 points for Basic.

Cimarron-Memorial 80, Palo Verde 63 -- At Cimarron, Mike Cutright had 28 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Spartans.

Arthur Baker added 14 points for Cimarron, which was 19-for-22 from the free-throw line. Moses Morgan led Palo Verde with 20 points.

Del Sol 61, Tech 49 -- At Tech, Maurice Lawson had 20 points to lead the Dragons.

Damien Lujan added 13 points for Del Sol. Brandon Tiffany paced Tech with 17 points.

Mojave 66, Arbor View 37 -- At Arbor View, Darian Norris scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half as the Rattlers pulled away, outscoring the Aggies 23-4 in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Marshall added 16 points for Mojave.

Fairmont Prep (Calif.) 49, Mountain View 48 -- At Anaheim, Calif., Sun Yoo's 3-pointer with 13 seconds left lifted the host school in the Fairmont Prep Tournament.

Cortland LeBoeuf led Mountain View with 17 points.

Agassi Prep 79, Calvary Chapel 71 -- At Agassi Prep, DeShawn Battle scored 19 points to lead Agassi Prep over the Lions.

GIRLS

Palo Verde 51, Cimarron 37 -- At Cimarron, Hayley Henderson scored 19 points and Mikala Pride 17 as the Panthers defeated the Spartans.

The game was tied at 29 after three quarters, but Palo Verde outscored Cimarron 22-8 in the fourth. Catherine Wyre led the Spartans with 15 points.

Mojave 65, Arbor View 32 -- At Arbor View, Chelsea Hopkins had 22 points and the Rattlers outscored the Aggies 20-2 in the first quarter on the way to the easy win.

Arbor View's Erika Lang scored 11 points.

Silverado 59, Basic 38 -- At Basic, Jessica Schmidt had 22 points as the Skyhawks cruised past the Wolves.

Marquichea Burns led Basic with 13 points.

Coronado 70, Liberty 63 -- At Coronado, Lindsay Decker had 14 points and nine rebounds to help the Cougars hold off Liberty.

Amanda Washington led the Patriots with 26 points.

Tech 46, Del Sol 22 -- At Del Sol, Mechel'la Logan scored 16 points to lead the Roadrunners past the Dragons.

Green Valley 70, Foothill 39 -- At Foothill, Jazmine Jarvis scored 17 points and Victoria Naylor 16 as the Gators ran past the Falcons.

Centennial 76, Cheyenne 32 -- At Cheyenne, Johnna Brown had 26 points as the Bulldogs cruised to victory.

Alexis Byrd added 13 points for Centennial. Ayoola Weaver scored 15 points for Cheyenne.

Shadow Ridge 72, Legacy 60 -- At Legacy, Cheyana Slocum had 20 points to lead the Mustangs.

Brianna Watkins led Legacy with 16 points.

Agassi Prep 46, Calvary Chapel 32 -- At Agassi Prep, Mariah Harrison scored 17 to lead Agassi Prep.
