Luckily, this card isn’t pay per view

If you're lucky, you might just have a chance to grab a hold of Gina Carano.

On cardboard, at least.

The female face -- and hands and knees -- of mixed martial arts soon will be immortalized by the Donruss Trading Card Company.

Carano will make her first appearance in the Donruss Americana II set, scheduled for release in mid-July, as part of the "Ring Kings" insert set, joining 29 fellow fighters, including Georges St. Pierre, Forrest Griffin and Urijah Faber.

"We're excited to be able to include Gina in this program," Donruss marketing director Scott Prusha told Beckett.com, the leading authority on the sports card market. "We hope to show how multi-dimensional the sport is by having the top female fighter in the world. We know her card will be one of the most popular rookie cards in the set."

In addition to the regular card, which should be available for less than $10, Carano will have authentic autographed cards and cards that contain pieces of actual fight-worn gloves.

No word yet on whether Gina's father, former UNLV quarterback and Dallas Cowboys backup Glenn Carano, will have any game-used football cards included.

* Speaking of the sports card market, Topps is producing a one-of-a-kind card that should please all politicos out there.

In its soon-to-be-released 2008 Topps Triple Threads product, the company is inserting a card containing sunglasses worn by President Woodrow Wilson, with a cut signature to boot.

* The debate is over: Michael Beasley is officially a shrimp.

After weeks of speculation about his height -- which was listed in the Kansas State media guide at 6 feet 10 inches but was estimated by some at closer to 6-7 -- the former Wildcats forward measured "only" 6-81/4 with basketball shoes on, according to measurements taken at last week's NBA predraft camp and released by the NBA on Tuesday.

But with averages of 26.2 points and an NCAA-high 12.4 rebounds last season, Beasley shouldn't be affected too much by his slight height on draft night.

* The New England Patriots talked about getting younger this season, but they might be taking it too far.

Mark Vogler of the North Andover (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune reported that the Patriots have selected 18-year-old Rebecca Lucas of Methuen High School as one of 24 cheerleaders for next season.

* Ten years later, Peter Warrick wants a Heisman Trophy recount.

"It had nothing to do with the way I played," Warrick told Canada's National Post about the decision to award the Heisman to Wisconsin's Ron Dayne. "It was wrong. I felt I was the best that year. I haven't said anything until today, but I want it to be known."

You're right, Peter.

It probably had more to do with the fact that you were charged with grand theft for purchasing more than $400 worth of clothes for $21 during your final season.
