Martinez’s two-out, two-run double in ninth lifts Bees past 51s

Luis Martinez delivered a two-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth inning as the Salt Lake Bees rallied past the Las Vegas 51s 10-9 in a Pacific Coast League game at Cashman Field on Wednesday night.

Josh Satin’s two-run double for the 51s in the bottom of the sixth broke a 7-all tie. But closer Ryan Reid (3-1) was unable to finish off Salt Lake, allowing three runs in the ninth. He gave up an RBI double to Efren Navarro before the double to Martinez.

Las Vegas trailed 3-0 before coming to bat in the bottom of the first. But the 51s got a bases-loaded double from Kevin Plawecki and a two-run home run to right field from Brandon Allen to retake the lead 5-3.

The 51s were ahead 7-3 before Salt Lake rallied to tie the game with four runs in the top of the fifth.

But Satin came through an inning later and reliever Chasen Bradford kept the Bees off the scoreboard for the next two innings before giving way to Reid.

Michael Kohn (1-0) pitched two innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win for Salt Lake.

The two teams wrap up the four-game series at 7:05 p.m. today. There will be a postgame fireworks show.
