Maza leads 51s past Albuquerque

Luis Maza continued his torrid hitting, going 5-for-5 with a double and two RBIs on Thursday night to lead the 51s to a 10-1 Pacific Coast League victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes in Albuquerque, N.M.

Maza, who had three hits and six RBIs on Wednesday, upped his batting average to .435 with his effort Thursday.

Terry Tiffee's two-run double keyed Las Vegas' three-run fifth inning, and the 51s (14-13) scored four runs in the ninth on two hits and three walks.

Jason Johnson (3-2) started for Las Vegas and gave up one run on nine hits, all singles, and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five. Mike Koplove and Brian Falkenborg combined to pitch 3 2/3 innings of perfect relief, and each struck out two.

The 51s open a four-game series in Round Rock, Texas, today against the Express.
