Moreland, Las Vegas top Cimarron

Andrew Moreland had two 1-yard touchdown runs in the second half Thursday night to help Las Vegas High's football team to a 21-13 win at Cimarron-Memorial.

Moreland, who finished with 98 yards on 13 carries, broke a 7-7 tie with his first TD with 1 minute, 13 seconds left in the third quarter. Jay Mattox's kick gave the Wildcats (2-1) a 14-7 lead.

Desean Lewis' 4-yard touchdown run with 7:03 left in the fourth quarter brought the Spartans (2-2) within a point, but the extra-point kick sailed wide.

Moreland finished the scoring with a run up the middle with 2:19 to play.

Trevor Swenson completed 18 of 22 passes for 137 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Zanin-Banks in the second quarter, for Las Vegas.

Joshua Mayfield hauled in six passes for 87 yards for the Wildcats.

Cimarron's Justin Davis racked up 170 yards on 24 carries.

The Spartans' other touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Kamal Buchanan in the first quarter. Cimarron outgained the Wildcats, 284-276.
