LVMS schedule loaded this weekend

It will be a busy Labor Day weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series returns to the Bullring on Saturday, a night that also includes the United States Auto Club Ignite Midget Series and the Hoosier Tire Late Model Series.

The USAC and Hoosier series also run races Sunday, joining the ASA Truck Series. "Waterless boat races," in which Bombers drag boats around the track, also will take place.

Gates open at 5 p.m. both days.

The Strip at LVMS will be even busier, hosting events all the way until Monday. Several series will stage races, including Tony Rowe Enterprises Championship Bracket Series, K&N Pro Gas, Super Street Association, I-15 Super Comp Challenge and Short Line Express Market Jr. Dragster Series.

■ NHRA ANNOUNCES VEGAS DATES - The NHRA's main series returns to the LVMS Strip on April 5 to 7 for the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals and Oct. 24 to 27 for the NHRA Big O Tires Nationals.

■ CHANGE AT LVMS - Chris Blair, vice president of racing operations, has left the speedway. He oversaw events at the Bullring and Strip. A replacement is expected to be announced soon.
