Nanita homers twice to power 51s past Sounds
Ricardo Nanita had two home runs, helping the 51s roll to a 7-2 victory over the Nashville Sounds in a Pacific Coast League game at Nashville, Tenn.
Nanita homered to lead off the 51s' four-run fifth inning, then hit a solo shot with one out in the sixth inning to give Las Vegas (62-61) a 7-0 lead. In the decisive fifth inning, Manny Mayorson had an RBI double and later stole home, and Adeiny Hechavarria had a run-scoring double.
Brian Jeroloman's second-inning RBI single opened the scoring for the 51s, who piled up 13 hits while allowing just six for Nashville (62-61). Las Vegas jumped on Sounds starter Josh Butler, who gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings.
Hechavarria was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Mayorson and Chris Woodward both went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Las Vegas starter Chad Gaudin (1-0) got the win, allowing four hits and no walks with two strikeouts in five scoreless innings.
