Net prank no boon for Red Sox

JetBlue Park, the Red Sox's new spring home in Fort Myers, Fla., is a veritable replica of Boston's Fenway Park, complete with the Green Monster in left field and the team's retired numbers on the right-field facade.

But Red Sox fans searching for online information about the ballpark surely will be annoyed to discover that typing in "jetbluepark.com" will redirect them to the home page of the rival New York Yankees.

Fort Myers resident Eric Engelman is behind the prank. He bought the domain name for $8 shortly after hearing the announcement for the ballpark's naming rights.

"It was kind of funny to me because I couldn't believe nobody checked it first," he said. "One day it just clicked in my head that it would be funny if I put it to the yankees.com."

Red Sox executive vice president Sam Kennedy seemed surprised when he was apprised of the prank by the Fort Myers News-Press.

"My reaction is that jetbluepark.com should go to redsox.com, not yankees.com," he said, adding he wants Engelman to call him to "make a deal."

But Engelman is interested only in making people laugh.

"For $8, I was willing to have a little bit of fun with it, and I think I'm getting my money's worth," he said.

The most surprising part of the story is that Engelman isn't even a Yankees fan. He's a long-suffering Chicago Cubs fan who apparently is content to share his pain.

It could be worse for Red Sox fans. Engelman could have redirected them to Popeyes.com.

■ JEREMY REMIX -- "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon performed a parody of the Pearl Jam hit "Jeremy" on Thursday to poke fun at Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin.

Among the lyrics: "At home shooting free throws and 3-point shots, waiting for a job, name not yet a pun. Carmelo injury came out of nowhere, like an Asian Tebow.

"Clearly I remember picking on the boy, seemed a little Harvard nerd. He beat Kobe Bryant, set a screen and took it to the hole to show that Asian men could drive.

"And he hit me with a surprise 3, and the crowd went crazy, now he's famous, just turned down a date with Kim Kardashian."

Check it out on YouTube, along with "Tebowie," Fallon's parody of David Bowie's "Space Oddity."

■ HARBAUGH HELPS HOOSIERS -- San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, brother-in-law of Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean, served as a volunteer team manager for the Hoosiers during Wednesday's win over North Carolina Central.

Harbaugh sat on the bench and during timeouts carried chairs on and off the floor for the players.

True to form, Harbaugh sought out the opposing team's manager for a postgame handshake and promptly head-butted him.

■ SILENCE OF THE WOODS -- Tiger Woods gave Henderson resident Nick Watney the silent treatment during their showdown Thursday at the Match Play Championship.

But Watney wasn't in the mood to chat about Perkins Pancake House specials, anyway, en route to his 1-up win.

"I didn't really want to talk to him, either," he said.
