New Mexico fends off Southern Utah

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- J.R. Giddens scored six straight points midway through the second half to help New Mexico pull away and beat Southern Utah 57-48 Wednesday night.
Giddens finished with a game-high 14 points, including 10 in the second half.
The game was close until Giddens took over with 10:35 left on a reverse layup to break a 36-all tie. It started New Mexico (7-0) on a deciding 17-4 run, in which Giddens had eight points, including an emphatic dunk.
The Thunderbirds (1-5) got 11 points from Rick Roberts.
• Texas Tech 71, Texas Christian 58 -- At Lubbock, Texas, Martin Zeno scored 26 points as the Red Raiders handed the Horned Frogs (4-1) their first loss of the season.
The Red Raiders (5-2) came from behind after TCU used a 13-4 run early in the second half to take a 48-35 lead.
• Utah 72, Weber State 52 -- At Ogden, Utah, Shaun Greene scored 18 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead the Utes past the Wildcats (2-3).
Trailing 16-4 less than eight minutes into the game, the Utes (3-2) went on a 20-2 run, including nine points from Greene, to take a 24-18 lead with 1:02 remaining in the first half. Utah held the Wildcats without a field goal for more than 12 minutes.
• San Diego State 78, Loyola Marymount 56 -- At Los Angeles, Ryan Amoroso scored 19 points, and Lorrenzo Wade added 18 to lead the Aztecs (6-1) over the Lions (2-5).
• Colorado State 73, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 48 -- At Fort Collins, Colo., Stuart Creason had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the Rams (3-2) past the Lions (1-4).
