No. 7 College of Southern Nevada sweeps doubleheader from Salt Lake CC

Cory Welch delivered an RBI single in a three-run top of the ninth and then pitched one inning of shutout ball for the save as No. 7-ranked College of Southern Nevada completed a Scenic West Athletic Association doubleheader sweep of Salt Lake Community College in West Jordan, Utah, with a 4-3 victory Friday.

The Coyotes (18-5, 6-0 SWAC) won the opener 14-7 as Morgan Stott went 3-for-5 and homered.

Welch’s run-scoring single in the ninth inning of the nightcap was followed by an RBI double from Chad Whiteaker as CSN overcame a 3-1 deficit.

Evan Van Hoosier homered in both games for the Coyotes.

UNLV MEN’S TENNIS: The Rebels beat Ball State 5-2 for their sixth consecutive home victory at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Ace Matias won at No. 1 singles and teamed with Bernard Schoeman at No. 1 doubles to lead UNLV (7-4).
