Patient Faith Lutheran rolls

Faith Lutheran waited almost eight minutes to get its offense on the field Saturday.

It didn't take the Crusaders long to make up for lost time.

Faith Lutheran scored a touchdown on each of its first seven possessions to defeat Mammoth (Calif.) 49-13, putting the game away with three touchdowns in the span of 1:22 in the third quarter.

"Our offense is playing very well, very well," Crusaders coach Jacob Kothe said after the home victory. "We have a lot of weapons on that side. Our skill guys are pretty tough."

Leading 21-7, the Crusaders (3-1) started the binge on a 1-yard run by quarterback Max Done with 8:12 left in the third quarter.

An interception by Connor Maloney led to a 36-yard scoring pass from Done to Diontea Wright 65 seconds later, making the score 35-7.

Mike Fildes recovered a Huskies fumble at the Mammoth 1 on the ensuing kickoff, setting up the second of three touchdown runs by David Sperry to make the score 42-7.

Sperry scored on a 3-yard run early in the fourth quarter to finish the Crusaders' run.

Mammoth used an 18-play, 68-yard scoring drive and 7:50 to take a 6-0 lead on a 2-yard run by Matt Desalvo before the Crusaders rattled off the seven touchdowns. Desalvo added a 1-yard touchdown run in the final minute.

Sperry scored on a 1-yard run in the final minute of the first quarter, and Bobby Moretti's extra point gave Faith the lead for good.

A 39-yard scoring pass from Done to Madison Fiore and a 2-yard run by Garrett Sherwood pushed Faith's lead to 21-7 at halftime.

"We made a few adjustments (on defense), and our kids responded," Kothe said.

The Crusaders racked up 343 yards of total offense. Done was 7-for-8 for 163 yards.

The Huskies managed 188 yards, including 15 passing yards on 11 attempts.

Carlin 41, Mountain View 16 -- At Mountain View, the Railroaders scored the game's final 23 points to down the Saints.

Mountain View led 16-8 in the second quarter after a 15-yard TD pass from Evan Entelr to Craig Sacra, but it was all Carlin from there.

C.J. Uri rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown and caught a TD pass for the Railroaders. Carlin quarterback Kyle Meacham passed for 104 yards and four TDs.

Mountain View's first score came on a 35-yard run by Cortland LeBoeuf, who finished with 83 yards on 15 carries.

Calvary Chapel 34, Spring Mountain 6 -- At Spring Mountain, T.J. White completed 8 of 14 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown and ran for two scores to lead the Lions over the Golden Eagles.
